Anybody else like this guy? Big, strong, cannon for an arm. Obviously going up against a tough Auburn D today.

He's not my favorite by any wild stretch, but he sure put a whoopin' on my Wildcats last week.

Luckily for me, trickblue's alma mater is in town today to get us back on the right track.

:D

I like to watch him in college and you're right about his tools but he's not a prolific, precision passer that you can rely on to sit back there and pick teams apart. Looks like an NFL career backup IMO but might be decent at that.

I think he is a senior. I thought he played against Texas in the 2002-03 Cotton Bowl. I have not seen much of him though.

He can supposedly throw the football 80 yards.
and supposedly can throw it 60 from his knees. By all reports, he's a great kid too who has had positive male role models around him that kept him on the straight and narrow.

by contrast....Brady Quinn looked like a true freshman today....horrible
3x INTs plus 1 fumble lost and returned for a TD. Wow.
I think Quinn all but eliminated himself from the Heisman race.
I may have to change my sig....

He'll still be the top QB in this class.

I agree, but that may be due to a weak qb class this year. He's been subpar in 2 of 3 games this year. He keeps this up, and he just may find himself falling out of the top 10 in the draft.

I agree on the subpar so far part but I still think Quinn will probably be the top QB in the draft and hard to remember when the top QB in the draft didn't go in the top 10.
Quinn would have to be horrible for much of the rest of the year and then have a horrible combine....I just don't really see that happening.
He might slip from top 3 to 5-10 but that's still about as far as I could envision him going.

Yeah, it's not likely that he will fall out of the top 10, because I don't expect him to continue to play this poorly.

If he does continue this inconsistent play, I don't see how anyone could take him in the top 10.

I doubt he falls that far.

So do I, but right now, he is not looking anywhere near as good as Leinert, and I think he went 10th.

Come April when a team is starving for a QB he is still the best on the menu. Leinart had 3 things to deal with for him to fall that far.

1. Young
2. Bush, his own teammate was more attractive.
3. Many of the top teams in the Draft were not thinking QB.

That won't happen 2 years in a row. No way.

The draft is still and will always be a QB's market...
Remember David Carr went #1 overall?
Even Harrington went like 8th.
Didn't Alex Smith go #1 too? Akili Smith top 5?
It doesn't matter how good a QB is, it just matters how good he is in relation to his QB peers.
If Quinn ended up having a crummy year I could see Jarret, C Johnson, and A Peterson going before Quinn but Brady would be taken soon thereafter...at WORST.

I agree, but my point was Leinart had a great season and fell to #10. Right now, Quinn is not having a good season. He has to fix that. I don't think he will be a top 10 pick if he finishes with something like 3200 yards, 24tds, and 12 interceptions.

That's about the pace he is on, and that is not top 10 worthy.

We shall see. I still think he'll be where he's been projected.
