All we've seen about Showers right now is what some "think." We'll get a clearer picture in 8 days during the 1st preseason game w/ LA Rams.

Then allow me to make a point. I have seen you over the years predict seasonal success only for it to fall far short of your suggestion. Not you alone, but an entire cadre of people on this site making those 10-6, 11-5, 12-4 predictions.

Did you see anyone come a runnin' to call you or them out on it the next time you sidled up to the prediction window?

Nope. Most of us who were there just went on about our business while you stayed mute on your opinions, while writing bunk like your original post I quoted above..

So I find it both business as usual, and highly hypocritical of you to make comments about others, since the people who routinely have doubted the FO, coaches and players on this team in the past seem to not held your feet to the fire when you have erred on the side of sunshine.

I mean are these scribes making strawman arguments against someone's opinion coming from those who predicted possible play-off outcomes for several years in a row where the team fell short and then kept their mouth shut and did not own up to it, like you claim others do?

Because I seem to remember years of hope being dashed on the rocks of poor seasons, and all those who were on the side of hope predicting same, were never taken to task for their gaffs at augury.

I find back biting to be one of the least attractive forms of personality on this board. Frankly it takes even less stones to ridicule someone else under the flag of team spirit.

I don't know about all that high-fallutin' intellectualizing you guys are doing, but what really bums me out is that we've completely wasted the careers of Tony Romo and Jason Witten, two truly great Cowboys players. Wouldn't you agree?

Since you continue to try to divert the thread and the topic at the moment, I will still indulge you just for conversational purposes, which seems to be your goal as well.

To answer the question, I don't know. I am not going to take soundbytes, a couple of walkthrough tosses on NFLN and fluff it to try to formulate an opinion.

If it makes you feel better, in the limited times I watched Showers mopping up last preseason, he had some poise. Then again, when I saw him in college all star games, he looked like a total stiff.

But that does not mean a lot in the general scheme of things.

Neither Showers or Prescott are the answer for the Cowboys as the primary backup this season or future starter after Romo who's career end is less than two years away......

I agree neither is the answer now, but what either will be in the future is unknowable. After the first week of Romo's career I bet most didn't think he showed much eithet
