Jane says the original plan was Witten on McCarthy's staff

Nothing is clear right now because Jerry’s brain is seriously not clear. This team is rudderless with no plan. The fact that Sanders name, Wittens name even comes up, should cause serious concern for any Cowboys fan who isn’t already there. Pathetic is not too strong of a word, neither is hopeless.

Who is your choice?
Not shocked to see you here being ok with this absolutely dumb hire.

My choice before you ask would be Flores with Saleh as DC and Riley as OC.

Flores stood up to the NFL. He’s a commanding presence. He took a bad Miami team and made them much better than why were even with dysfunctional ownership.

I'm surprised we haven't heard about a scheduled interview yet with anyone.

Makes me think we have something worked out on the down low with Andy Reid.
Nobody wants to work here. Jerry seems to be reaching into the nether regions of his contact list if all he can come up with is former players. I wonder how many good coaches have already rejected his enquiries?

Jerry isnt hiring KM. Hes big on loyalty and I think for that reason, he won't call him. I feel a name not being mentioned at all is Lincoln Riley. I have a Darkhorse for you all too. What if Dak somehow convinces Jerry to go hire his old college HC , Dan Mullen? Its such a Jerry move when you think about it.
Just make Dak the HC because he is not a great QB anyway

Some people will never accept this is how Jerry Jones' brain has always worked. It is far easier to simply believe he is going senile. Let's review:
  • Every Cowboys fan should be eternally grateful Jones picked Jimmy Johnson when he bought the franchise. Johnson was the premier Division I-A head coach a rockstar at the time. College teammate.
  • Has hissy fit with Johnson and parts ways. Decides on Barry Switzer. College teammate.
  • Terry Donahue was a big college name. Jones low-balled him and settled for Chan Gailey.
  • Restricted (his hiring searches were always small but this was ridiculous) his serious choice to Dave Campo. Out of all possible hires. Yep. Dave Campo.
  • Hires a true Hall of Fame talent in Bill Parcells. Decision greatly influenced in selling the idea of building a new stadium/not solely to help Dallas get back to Super Bowls.
  • Hired barely wet-behind-the-coaching-ears (sounds familiar?) Jason Garrett as an offensive coordinator before going with a solid defensive mind but average head coaching retread in Wade Phillips.
  • Never considered any candidate other than his already pre-selected choice of Garrett.
  • His 'mastermind' choice, out of ALL available candidates to woo to Dallas, was a previous Super Bowl winning but unemployed head coach, who stayed unemployed until Jones contacted him.
Yet, some see Jones' latest three-card monte decision-making as just an old man with bat <expletive> ideas like hiring Jason Witten. As if he has never demonstrated the exact same nonsense when he was not considered an old man with bat <expletive> ideas.

lol.

Jones thinks he is being so clever. well perhaps for casual and fringe fans because a lot of them own Witten Jersey's.
he is not thinking coaching team, chemistry, or skill. he is thinking popularity, tickets and money
I like Witten. I think he has a bright future. but he is a high school coach, leading a none 5 start high school team. now jumping to NFL!!! seriousl y !

but it tells you all you need to know about Jones. forcing things on his coaches. he didn't say MM didn't want Witten, but no that "his plan" was to have witten on his staff. just like he planned to have moore on his staff and then push zimmer on MM and so on.

the other stupid thing...he is trying to force coaches on the head coach. then he wants them to sign an incentive based contract!!! what in the hell!

and we wonder why we got here

"We?" Extremely few fans, heck, very few non-Cowboys fans, have been left wondering how we got here. At least, you admit he thinks he is being clever, which has always been the case for him.

Seriously, look at the list of top candidates around the league and then the names we're looking at.

People are actually convincing themselves that some of these would be good choices.

Jerry is loving this…everybody speculating and talking about who the new coach of the Cowboys will be…
One might think KM is a front runner…Jerry has a comfort level with him and he won’t steal Jerry’s spotlight…and he was forced out my MM so maybe Jerry feels he owes him something.
Deion might be in play…he is an old school coach behind the “Prime” persona and was a great player so maybe Jerry respects him…
I’ve read where Jerry has compared Witten to Dan Campbell and claims they share several personality traits…so does Jerry think Witten is the next Coach Campbell?
I think the longer Jerry waits to name a coach the more obscure he will be.

Always the same. Someone with ties to Jerry who isnt on anyone elses radar, or a retread who is out of work and is just happy to get another shot.

Either way Jerry gets someone for cheap who is willing to play the role while Jerry meddles and pulls the strings.

Bahh I broke out in a cold sweat when I heard her say that.
And why would we expect anything less than for Booger to fly solo? Most teams and even colleges use recruiting firms to help gather info and do background checks. But ole Booger don’t need none of that nonsense he’s got it covered lmao!

"Jerry is on a solo mission" should scare the dickens out of every Dallas fan. The problem in Dallas is getting worse, not better. Every day I am more convinced Jerry is losing it. Grandpa gets more stubborn the more he loses his faculties. Jerry is trying too hard to prove he is in control.

I was considering whether or not I want to be a Cowboys fan anymore. I wouldn't support another team I would probably just walk away from the NFL. The reason is I cannot find any reason to be hopeful about this team. I am 72 now and I don't have time to wait for the Jones family to change or fix this. But Jerry is 82, and if I am right about his mental health then it won't be much longer before he has to give up control of the team. I wonder if the NFL would actually step in at some point and force him to give up control if his actions become too erratic or irrational? In any case, I will stick with my team for now and see what happens. I just wish I could see some kind of plan for the Cowboys. Nothing I see indicates the owner has thought any of this out.

The thought of Jerry planning to make the HC decision "solo" is a horribly shaky plan to me! His judgment is highly suspect, at best. :omg:
