Jane Slater: The three names I keep hearing to the Cowboys in round 1

I wouldn't be unhappy with any of these 3 players. I will be a little surprised if Dallas drafts Nolen in the first. I just don't think going DT again is something Jerry would love to do. I've heard the rumors about Nolen and while I wasn't hot on him before, it makes me wonder if someone is trying to taint him so he falls to them.

I have heard a lot of analysts on NFL radio network saying Pearce is an underrated Edge rusher. I've heard a couple of guys say they think he will be the best pass rusher to come out of this draft.

I still think the pick is Golden. The Cowboys seem desperate for another skill position player and they aren't wrong. I think Golden gets a bad rap for not being productive enough in college. But I think he is an excellent receiver and will have success in the NFL. Pairing him with CeeDee will make both of them more successful.

I think Jane Slater is more tied into the Cowboys front office than some other guys, like Bryan Broaddus. And if these 3 are the Cowboys top targets, I agree with Slater that the Cowboys are thinking in the right direction.

But, it all depends on how the top 11 picks fall. I have seen mocks where Golden and TMac are gone before Dallas picks.

I agree with this thinking, outside of the top 4 WRs in the draft the pickings are slim and I don't know if they will ever be a NFL no 2.we are being forced to pick a WR either at 12 or in a trade down situation.

Walter Nolen would be Mazi part deux
Mazi was never the player Walter was in college though. 2 very different styles and players really.

Mazi Smith was more of a lane clogger in college. Didn't make many plays behind the LOS.

Nolen is known as a twitchy fast DT who actually made players behind the line of scrimmage in college. He had 6 sacks and 25 hurries in college football last year. That is more than Mazi Smith ever had combined at Michigan. And honestly he was a better run stopper than Mazi was in College. Nolen is probably the most explosive DT in the draft.

Give me Nolen. Remember Jalen Carter's "maturity" issues. Fell to the Eagles and look how much of a beast he is on the field. We need a violent DT like him on our front.

I would take Nolen over any WR in this draft.

Those are all very good trade back options. Also, trade back into the 1st round options.

If we got Pearce and Nolen, we're loaded on that D-line for years. Remember, Fowler, Kneeland and Sam Williams can play also. Osa and Nolen at DT as pass rush interior is lethal. Mazi plays the 1 tech and we find one in the draft an/or in FA.

I like Martinez a lot as well. I'd prefer a lead Rb than a committee. But I don't see Tuten as a waste of resources. Teams pay a premium for players with elite athleticism + production because they can change games with a single play. I'd expect both him and Henderson to go pretty high in this draft for that reason.

The Lions have shown that there is a huge benefit to having a gamebreaker at RB, especially paired with a complementary skillset. While the complementary guys can be found throughout the draft, the athletes almost always go high.
Let's not even attempt to place Tuten in the same light as Gibbs. Gibbs is shifty and basically a WR in the passing games, Tuten isn't like that at all.

We can disagree, Martinez is going to bring a mentality in the run, set a tone, bring physicality like these coaches have been talking about all offseason. Martinez is going to break tackles, shake some, and get first while holding onto the ball. Tuten is a decent RB, don't get me wrong, but he's a fumbler. Tuten is a speed supplement, Martinez is a workhorse.
