Allen and Melton would be an amazing fix for losing hatcher and ware. Melton is 5 years younger than Hatch and Allen is the same age but more productive and way nastier than Ware. Draft Calvin prior and best DE in rd 2.

This.

Before we lost Ware and Hatch I was saying we should take Pryor in the first round... But now, we'd be forced to take a d-lineman in the first round... unless we get Allen and Melton. If this happens, (draft Pryor and get Allen/Melton) we address two very important needs that could elevate this defense from being one of the worst, to pretty solid (assuming Lee, Carter, etc. stay healthy). Plus, a second round DE is probably still gonna be a starter and a difference maker on this team. Dee Ford from Auburn could slip to the second round and maybe we trade up in the second to get him. That would be the best case scenario.

I do understand how highly unlikely this is but if the Cowboys could get both Melton and Allen I would feel a little better about our D-Line going into the draft.

same here, 1-2 year deal wouldn't be bad, drafting dline 1st and 2nd rounds would just make this better, im still wondering why they haven't released Durant too clear some space.

I wonder if we end up bringing back Spencer on a short term deal, would they move Crawford to the 1 tech? That would definitely put our 4 best DL on the field.

Hate the idea
We should not overpay for Melton or give Allen more than a 1 year deal but chances are we will do both and the usual suspects will rejoice and laud stupid decisions by Jerry and tell us the DL is fixed

You are on fire.

The DL wouldn't be fixed but it surely would be better than last years....

Jared Allen. Hunter. Fisherman. Baller. When he visits #Cowboys this week we should have @ChrisKaman zip in and show him around

Funny, I was thinking about Spencer as my first reaction to this also. I would rotate Crawford with Spencer because he probably won't be full speed at the start of the season. I think one of real values of Crawford is his versatility and the fact that he could be an excellent back to the SDE but still take snaps at the 1 in a rotation with McClain and Hayden.

I view this as nothing more than kicking the tires. Allen benefitted from a lot of coverage sacks last year. He is a nasty player, and that I would welcome to the D-line with open arms. This team needs some attitude.

If JJ overpays it should be for Melton (interior push/disruption will benefit outside rushers). This was the same problem the D faced last year. Even with Hatch, there was no consistent push or help from others, etc.

I'd like to see the look on these guys faces when they walk through our locker room in awe gazing at names like Bass, Hayden, McClain and Mincey.

Or Jones can pull a slick one and place Cowboys cheerleaders in their place in the locker room and leave them there un-attended.
