What makes us think Gurode has improved as a guard though?

He's a vet now, and this may sound funny. But Torrin Tucker is long gone.

That is just the thing, if he hasn't improved enough at guard to beat out Kosier in camp, then Kosier keeps his spot and we are still stronger along the line. Conversely, many people believe Pouncey can play guard right away as well, so we could leave Gurode at C and replace Kosier with Pouncey.

There is no question in my mind that Pouncey is the lineman we need from this draft. He is an immediate starter and possible upgrade at every interior line position. He is the only player I would trade up for (that is actually attainable through trade up i.e. not a top 15 pick)

Saves time? How can it save time when you have to erase it?

99 times out 100 I have no idea who the hell you are talking to.

Hos, for me the addition of Gaither is also about the 2011 season, when Columbo is a FA. The ability to let Columbo walk without being in a pinch could really help in FA/the Draft.

That is why it is all theoretical. If we landed Pouncey in the draft, I would be far more enthused. We would however still have a decision next year on Columbo. I would rather avoid that.

i wouldnt trade up for Pouncey but Im definetely with you. Hes the perfect OL waiting in the wings to push some of the older guys. Odds are hed sit but at least hed push Proctor off the roster and bed be set to start for sure somewhere the year after.

Him at 27 and maybe Saffold whos a steady Tackle(and guard) w/ tons of experience is a nice start to the draft

I don't think there is any chance Pouncy doesn't beat out at least Kosier at LG. I don't want him at guard in the long run, but he would be an immediate upgrade.

What about Pouncey in the first, M. Burnett-FS-Georgia Tech in the second and J. Fox-OT-Miami in the third? I don't do mock drafts, but that would probably be my first three rounds is I did.

If we trade up for Davis where do we get the ammunition to trade for Gaither? Davis is projecting into the top 15 now on most mocks.

His contract demands are the only thing that scare me away from Gaither though.

Id be rooting for him to beat him out, but hes still just 20 and could get a little bigger still. Plus thatd be 2 new starters on the left side and I dont know if they do that.

I think in your scenario Id eschew the FS and try and trade up and get either Saffold or Mccourty. Im not a big Burnett guy and Fox is always banged up.

I think Burnett is even climbing up the boards anyway

Sounds like he has a chance to slide.

At least one of AD, Pouncey, and Iupati should be there.

Trade our 1st and Barber to get Earl Thomas and our 2nd and 2011 conditional 3rd for Gaither.

I think that's not a good enough reason to pay for a guy you might consider a reach and I think that is exactly how the team sees him.

What were Colombo's stats last season? I thought he was our worst lineman given the ol' eye test. If Gaither could be had with a 2nd, I think it should be a done deal. You're not going to get a lineman in the 2nd round of the draft that is better than Gaither, imo. Unless we're really shooting for a guard I think they should at least consider the option. Can Gaither play RT? I still want Free at LT, I think he's going to be very very good there. Gaither at RT and we'd have our tackles for the next 7-8 years set minimum.

IF you can get him for a 2nd round pick this year and a 3rd or 4th next year I'd strongly consider it...
