You're a real hoot aren't you?

Where did I show a preference for Moss, much less a fetish?

Oh, and what do Moss and Lawson have in common that a preference for one would explain another?

Seriously, do you ever attempt to make sense, or do you just spout whatever drivel comes to mind?

+10 points for ogt for using the term "hoot" in a sentence.

Nice one! :)

(I'm considering giving an extra 5 points for the word "drivel" too!)

In this post, you didn't answer a single question I posed. You're great at this "substantive discussion" stuff.

didnt u ask what they had in common? i gave u a answer. it might not have been the one u wanted as all u want to do is get into one of your remedial quiffs. while i just gave u the answer i wanted to give u. which is the basic one, and let u cry about it more. end of story

No, you didn't give an aswer. You said, "try looking at their college career" and "they have a lot in common." Neither is an answer. They're just broad statements of similarity.

I suspect you can't give one because you don't have one. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, though, and assume you've already started drinking for the evening. That, after all, is the only explanation for your thick-witted comments.

Moss and Ware as bookends, I like the sound of that but the Cowboys have Hatcher, Canty and Spears.

Hatcher is big enough to be a Defensive Tackle in the 4-3. 6-6 290. We could play them in different defenses where they fit best in, who ever more effective in certain formations play em there.

I believe everyone should be getting rest this would be more "valueable" depth.

Really it would showing Canty and Spears that they need to be more productive.

It is the "Madden" syndrome.

Get two bookend pass rush types, you can rule the league.

Nevermind about that pesky stopping the run thing.

Fact is, the strongside end or strongside linebacker has to be somewhat stout against the run. That's just a fact.

Look @ Robert Mathis and Dwight Feeney two elite pass rushers. Look @ Alex Brown and Andrew Ogulye two elite pass rushers.

Moss is certainly worth being picked but Dallas has spent enough on the linebacking core. I saw enough of Carpenter to think he will be more than enough. Even if James is benched, Carpenter can man his spot and Burnett can be moved if he put on the appropriate weight. No more picks on the linebackers! Dallas has much bigger needs at CB if Henry is moved which he will be. He seems to be slowing down and that his not good with the new rules. Dallas also needs an OG, OT, and yes even WR. Too many needs to be met without strengthing an already strong position.

I see the Colts' mostly pathetic run defense when I see Mathis and Freeney get muscled.

As for the Bears, Ogunleye is vastly underrated as a run defender. And having an effective (and big) back three helps. Urlacher and Briggs end up cleaning up a lot of mistakes.

Well that could be too.

I just don't see us drafting Moss.

What we need to look for are (assuming the 3-4 is a defense we play next year) are the Mark Andersons of this world. Many of us were high on the guy and he could have been had for the draft pick that became Skyler Green instead.

David.

Great point. That is one of the things that should be important.

You do not have to draft a pass rush specialist early. That is like trying to hit a home run on your first at bat.

The Mark Andersons and Trent Coles are proof of that.

They need to be good at both, actually. And the left side is hardly the strong side. Statistically teams run at both sides pretty evenly. I've even seen statistics where some teams run to the (offensive) left more often. Regardless, both OLBs (in a 3-4) or DEs (in a 4-3) should be large enought to rush the passer and take on the run.

In the end, Carpenter wasn't exactly impressive on the outside at either stopping the run or rushing the passer. The position requires someone a little bigger and a little stronger.

Carpenter can handle that spot in either scheme. I think he would be even better in a 4-3 because of his versatility.
