Well, if we go with a FB, do you see a TE even being on the field? Do you see a role for the TE with the WRs we have one? Honestly, the minute CDL was taken, I saw not big production out of the TE spot, to be honest. Heck, Jarwin might not even be the starter at TE if you really think about it. I could see the team going with a better inline blocker if we go with a 3 WR set or a FB. I can honestly see that happening.
I was shocked that the raiders signed Witten. He done.
I thought about that as well. Would McCarthy rather have three receivers and a receiving tight end out there in his West Coast offense or three and more of a blocker for the run game with some receiving abilities. The deal we gave Jarwin tells me that he's included in the plans, but that came before Lamb fell into our laps, so plans might change some.
should ??? LOL
he was with Witten year one, nothing
Year two without. nothing
year 3 with . nothing..
dude gets a ton of hype for doing ABSOLUTLY NOTHIGN IN SPOT DUTY.
stop blaming Witten for Jarwin being a JAG his first 3 seasons..maybe he finally breaks out but he will have t prove that..
To me, it's easy. All three of those WRs are better receiving threats then any TE we have. So unless Jarwin improves dramatically as a blocking TE, it makes more sense to go with the WRs as your primary receiving threats, maybe a guy like Bell at TE who is a much better blocker or maybe Pollard or a FB. Is Jarwin a bigger receiving threat then is Pollard even? I don't know that he is.
It's going to be interesting to see how this unfolds for sure.

Quite honestly it was hard to watch Jason Witten last season. He didn't belong on the field in any aspect. The offense should dramatically improve with him now in Las Vegas:
-Opposing teams didn't fear Witten what so ever. They knew he could no longer beat teams up the seam, getting any kind of yards after the catch and more of a liability as an inline blocker.
-Jarwin maybe never become an asset as an inline blocker at the position, but has legitimate receiving skills that opposing defenses must account for. He is going to see the most favorable match-ups within the entire offense and should finally breakout this season with more opportunities. We saw a glimpse of what he can do in a larger role during the season finale two years ago against the Giants.
I'm curious how his leadership is going to translate to the Raiders.....new teammate and play has been in decline the last few years. Not sure how he or the Raiders are going to sell his leadership, when the film comes on. Isn't leadership earned vs being given? Just curious how that is going to work, that's all.I think Raiders wanted him as a locker-room leader. They need him
I just don't know how much McCarthy relies on a lead blocker. He may prefer to spread the defense out to create holes. If that's the case, it may end up making more sense to use Jarwin than Bell or Olawale (or whoever ends up as the fullback). Of course, using Pollard may make just as much sense because of his versatility. I think, though, if he's going to use Jarwin more in a Noah Brown-type role as a big receiver who blocks downfield on running plays, then Jarwin might be the best fit for that. If he wants that fourth "receiver" to be more of an in-line or fullback type that gets pitted as a blocker against DEs and LBs, then Jarwin is not the best fit.
MM didn’t bring Witten back because he sucked.
How do you plan on winning that wager, I think I want a piece of that action. Schultz sucks. Or are you just talking crap again?Folks need to stop hero worshipping and realize we aren’t losing Witten circa 2009-10.
Witten put up 63 rec., 529 yards, 8.4 YPC last year.
He’s numbers have consistently been trending downward the past 3-4 seasons and his supposed superior blocking is one of the biggest myths in Cowboy fandom.
I’d wager good money Schultz could have put up those same paltry numbers if given the same snaps.
Between 2017 - 2019 he had exactly 5 penalties called on him. Try again.Witten wasn't some kind of superman blocking. most of the plays he did just enough to get into someone's way. in his later years, he was guaranteed to jump offside once or twice a game.

No doubt Witten slipped a step the past few seasons but you want to claim Schultz could put up similar numbers? LOL Don't back off that wager. I want your money, put it where your mouth is.Put on your #82 nightgown Joe and call it a night.
Witten sucked the past 3-4 seasons.
8.4 YPC, looooool.
Witten was an albatross the last several years he played for the Cowboys. A lot like Dez.
Garrett has a lot of flaws but maybe his biggest was his refusal to move on from BAD players.
