Jarwin vs Ebron?

Jarwin was averaging 20.yards a catch. Now that that cancer Witt is gone, he can really shine.

Exactly. Witten did neither.
In his prime he did both extremely well, but even at the end, he certainly did do both, just not at the level he once did. I'm not justifying the Cowboys decisions because I think they should have reduced his role dramatically a number of years ago, but we don't have to pretend he was void of any value at all to make that point. He should have been sharing the load for awhile, and then should have become the #2 TE, but he did still have value if they would have used him accordingly.

Jarwin averaged 11.8 yards per catch, not 20. I'm happy to have him get his shot at a much bigger role, but you don't need to grossly exaggerate to make a point. Same applies to your comments on Witten. I agree Witten shouldn't have dominated playing time at TE like he did, but that's on the team, not Witten. Witten wasn't a cancer, he just wanted to play football, and the coaches are the ones that determined the role.

The love for Jarwin here lol

Dude is a JAG.
He's a JAG because Witten got most of the reps and prevented his development?
So, we didn't get to choose whether the Cowboys picked him over Ebron.
I don't think it's a love fest, just a reality.

He's a JAG because he didn't have anything taken from him, he didn't win the spot to get more playing time. He's not a great blocker.

He also didn't help himself with not showing up in big games. It matters. There are people here saying he has higher upside than Ebron, that's a love fest.

Not really. That is just an opinion.

It's actually a great deal regarding Jarwin. They extended him for 4 years, with an AAV of 5.5 mil. However, he only got 4mil in signing bonus and only his first year has a guaranteed base.

Basically, if he crashes and burns they can get rid of him in a year or two even with minimal dead cap.
If he plays well, his cap hits are extremely reasonable.
3.25 mil this year
5.25 next
6.25 2022
7.25 mil 2023

Peanuts considering what Kittle and others will get with the rising cap.

For practical purposes he was only extended 3 years, as we already had the rights to him as a RFA.

With the signing bonus he's 6.25 the first year. I think of it as:
3.25 mil salary, about what he would have cost as RFA + 3mil purchasing an option for the following years at
4.25 next
5.25 2022
6.25 mil 2023

Which looks like a deal with more upside than downside even without a new CBA boom in prices.

If they REALLY prioritized blocking Witten would not have been on the roster for several years.
He was the best blocking TE on the team for the last several years. Don’t let these last three or four years fool you, Witten is a first ballot HOFer and he probably was the best all-around TE ever.

The guy produces big time whenever he's targeted.
Give him targets and he puts up numbers comparable to the leagues best.
365 total receiving last season don’t put him with league leaders. 31 receptions don’t either.

Did we pay more for Jarwin than Ebron signed for? I am higher on Jarwin than most but that one is a bit of a head scratcher.
If we sign Ebron we lose a comp pick. The Joneses want to keep all those picks for next year’s draft. So get ready for the dumpster dive to fill the roster.

Ive never really been impressed with Ebron. He always finds ways to have bad games. Jarwin to me just hasnt been used enough thanks to Witten. I can still see that game where Jarwin gets wide open on the Colts and Dak under throws him by 10 yards.

How’s he supposed to show up getting only 35% of the snaps? He may not be a standout, but we really don’t know what he is until he gets his shot. Looks like he will get that this year.

Having being a big heels fan and seeing alot of EE games in college here in NC, had expected more from him in the league.

"give him targets"
The league leaders wouldn't be there unless targeted.
I'm not saying Jarwin will be up there with the leagues best but his numbers would be similar.
That said I would definitely use a high to mid level draft pick if a great TE prospect fell in our laps.

By AAV, Ebron is like .5m more, but the years is the biggest difference.

Agreed on Jarwin's upside, I think he's really being slept on.

Jarwin is a good Blocker, this whole Notion that Witten was Gronk like is false. Jarwin can play inline, slot and on the outside.
The difference is he as speed and quickness to beat coverage.
