Jarwin vs Ebron?

Call him JAG if you want, he's on a role player contract it's not like he's making the big bucks. But he's athletic and will make plays on offense. He's not a great blocker but he's a talented receiver and in the same mold as some of these big play athletic TE's. I would consider drafting a 3rd TE/pick up a free agent like Donald Parham but other than that I think we have that position basically addressed.

Did we pay more for Jarwin than Ebron signed for? I am higher on Jarwin than most but that one is a bit of a head scratcher.
I'm a big fan of Jarwin. I think he'll surprise people, he seems to come through Everytime he's called on.

Jarwin is a good Blocker, this whole Notion that Witten was Gronk like is false. Jarwin can play inline, slot and on the outside.
The difference is he as speed and quickness to beat coverage.

No, he is not a good blocker. And don't be that guy, don't attempt to be that guy that tears down Witten so you can prop up a dude you won't remember in 5 years. You already embarrass yourself enough with your spamming of Dak love theads.

His statement said “comparable to the league’s best”. Jarwin has made some nice plays, but posters on this board overvalued him way too much.
He said “if he gets the targets”. He was extrapolating

LOL. You didn't think that game was big? Why did you watch it then?
You listed 5 catches in 2 games proving my point he isn't targeted.

No one is trying to prove your theory wrong that he wasn't targeted much. Because that proves our point.

Jarwin has potential in the passing game if they are going to incorporate him into the offense. The problem with Jarwin has been that his blocking is sooo bad that its hard to keep him on the field. Unless he can become a competent blocker its going to be hard to have him on for most of the snaps.

There is a big difference of limited playing time to being a full fledged starter....

He is also another player that disappeared in big games.

Given that Jason Witten started all 16 games and never had 60 yards in any of them, I would argue he never showed up either.

And let's look at how Witten did in big games:

1st Philly game - 1/14/0
Minnesota - 2/17/0
Patriots- 1/5/0
2nd Philly game - 2/14/0
Week 17 Commanders - 4/24/0

You lock on to your pre-conceived opinions of players and pick some weird hills to die on.

Which is flawed. Thanks for butting in and trying to play. You can see your way out now.
Yes, it is flawed, but that doesn’t somehow change the fact that he didn’t say what he was accused of saying.
By the way, you are also butting in, right, but you are doing so without even with the effort to understand what you are butting into.

He was the best blocking TE on the team for the last several years. Don’t let these last three or four years fool you, Witten is a first ballot HOFer and he probably was the best all-around TE ever.
No doubt.

This Witten dissing just floors me.

Watch.

After this year, he comes back to assist coaching the TEs.

Then everybody will suck up and say he's the Man.

Crows on a fence.

Jarwin averaged 11.8 yards per catch, not 20. I'm happy to have him get his shot at a much bigger role, but you don't need to grossly exaggerate to make a point. Same applies to your comments on Witten. I agree Witten shouldn't have dominated playing time at TE like he did, but that's on the team, not Witten. Witten wasn't a cancer, he just wanted to play football, and the coaches are the ones that determined the role.
Bottom line he's gone. He's LV's problem now at 5 yards a catch.

Paid about the same.

Yeah, we don't need quitters on this team.

Hey, what do you think of the Cooper extension?

I know you didn't ask me this question, but I think they went a bit overboard. I understand they have an out after next year if they think he isn't worth it. But even if he plays up to expectations the cap hit is crazy for a WR. After 2020 he's a straight 22m cap hit every year of his contract.

We agree on Jarwin. I see him as option on pass plays, but having him on the field during a lot of running plays will not go so good.

So you have to wonder if MM might be leaning to more of a passing offense. TE's that can block is vital to a running offense. At the moment, we don't have ANY. And he just made sure they secured a TE for years to come that cant block.

I think running will still be a prominent part of the offense. They can have a quality blocking TE on the roster in addition to Jarwin, plus spreading out the receivers, including Jarwin, can open running lanes as well.

Fantastic pick up - Jarwin. Sad to say but Witten had become a progress stopper

The sad thing is there was an opportunity for Witten’s presence to be a positive last year had they used him in more of a part time role, but they instead chose to treat him like he was still worthy of dominating the snaps at TE. Dumb coaching decision.
