Jason Garrett 2:00 Dallas time *PC Thread*

Garrett: "squeeze blood out of the rock."

PETR will not be happy about that remark.

man, JG is an articulate, well spoken young man.
we will be lucky to have him back and if he becomes
the head coach in the future we will be even luckier.

He's being very deferential and complimentary towards Wade.

Just said "I'm very lucky to be working for Wade Phillips."

This is surreal. It's like this is his introductory PC as head coach.

The way he's talking about the team, about how "You don't know you're ready for the next step until you get the chance", etc.

Everyone who places so much value on press conferences will love Jason. He's got all the cliches at all the right times.

What that has to do with coaching, I don't know.

Visited Balt...great visit...thanks to Balt management...fun process...
Visited ATL...same....same...

Wanted to go through process to investigate options...

Met with JJ last night...Dallas is best place for him...

Reasons: Jerry Jones, Great HC in WP, made great strides as team this year. Obvious that JG and wife feel at home in Dallas area.

In retrospect, he feels that his mind was made up on Monday after loss to Giants while addressing the offense.

Loves where the team is at...more importantly where this team is going...

Referred to his wife a lot during the PC....

Would not elaborate regarding interviews with Balt and ATL....just a positive experience.

At some point wants to be a HC, but he seems to want to learn all he can at the level he's at right now...

Current team feels much like the rising team in the early 90's....

Teams is starting down right path...long way to go....team headed in right direction...

Side note....Geez this guy is well spoken and professional....Most I've ever heard him say...but he's very impressive...

Feels that the next logical step from here will be to a HC position....

Says JJ has not mentioned anything about him being next HC (file that under "yeah, right")...

Being viewed as HC in waiting, is he worried about effects on his relationship with WP and team....JG says no worries there....

He sure is 'fortunate' to have the opportunity to have been around so many 'special' people.

;)

Was there any doubt that Garrett was going to impress everyone in his interviews and when he got to talk to the press?

I do like his attitude though. While people have been critical of the coaches being so optimistic after a loss, I have to say that I think this group would have taken 13-4 at the beginning of the year, if you had asked them. The only thing they did wrong was ratchet up expectations and then fail to meet them with a bad ending...

Doesn't change the fact that this is a very good team and looks like it will be even better in the future. The arrow is pointing up.

Brad Shams asks if Garrett's coaching search was "an exercise" as suggested by eastern media. JG emphatically denies, says it was great, valuable experience.

JG asked by Romo to play basketball today.

Its a great opportunity. Everybody is great. Jerry's great. Wade's great. Tony's great. Great opportunity in Baltimore and Atlanta. But Dallas is great. Great stuff.

He's great.

He said they aren't going to look at the film of the Giants game but he hoped Marion would look at it because that's what a football player looks like.

Singled him out as being a "true football player" or something like that. (I'm no Inman Roshi)

He said he told the team that they won't be watching the game tape against the giants. Except he told MBIII to watch the tape so he can see what a real football player looks like. Refering to the Barbarian himself.

JG seemed like he really likes MBIII and has a lot of respect for him. At least that the feeling i got.
