Jason Garrett: Drafting a QB 'will certainly be on the table' for Cowboys

His comments about Romo pretty much mirror Jerry's, and even mentioning Showers and Moore makes it seem like he's trying to convince someone we have a full stable of QBs on hand. Day 2 QB confirmed, if at all...

I don't think his comments are trying to convince anyone of anything. Why do fans keep trying to dissect these interviews for understanding.

He is intentionally saying absolutely nothing!

Obviously Jason and the staff know a hell of a lot more about their QB situation that I do. But I'm stunned that they actually view Kellen Moore as a viable solution at QB. I watched the guy at Boise and his physical tools are below average. He simply lacks the arm to make some basic NFL throws. Is there anyone here who thinks that Moore has the arm to throw into the wind at divisional sites like NY, Philly, or Washington in Dec when Dallas will need to win critical games.

I wonder if some of these exercises can help add some velocity to his throws. I think Moore has most of the tools to succeed, just needs to increase his velocity.

Meh..nothing to see here. Do you expect him to say "we will draft a QB at pick 4". The best course of action is to politely refuse to give a good answer(play politics) which is exactly what he did.

We at least have interest at pick 4, if we did not...we wouldn't be worrying about evaluating these players. I don't follow the Titans but I doubt they are putting a lot of resources in Lynch/Wentz/Goff, I doubt a team like the Colts or Packers will show much interest either. Teams plan these visits and work out based on their needs at a particular position, if the scouts/staff view a QB as the BPA and a franchise QB prospect at pick 4, I have no doubt they would take him. As for Jerry...Jerry loves to make money and a QB sells a franchise, he will not want to go back to the years between Romo and Aikman.

I wish they would quit asking the question about the QB anymore.

Is there a more ******** term than "developmental QB" ? it means you are not really looking and waste a roster spot on a Qb whose chances of being our next franchise qb is slim to none.

Gosselin was on the radio the other day, and he said that he thought the Cowboys should take Goff, Wentz or Lynch at 4, and make him follow Tony around to meetings, to watch film, to be on the sidelines with the head set on, sit next to Tony on the sideline when talking to Linehan. Make him di the same things Tony did before he became the starter. He said they would be foolish to pass up this opportunity to draft a potential future franchise QB. He also said that if they did draft one at 4, that he would be the back up and that he would probably get extensive playing time the next year or two. He thinks Tony will not make it through 16 games in a season. FWIW

They need to do whatever it takes to get the top QB in this draft if the scouts say he is worth it. I know many posters here wants to go all defense in the draft, but without a top QB, Dallas is doomed . There is a big shortage of playmakers on the offense as it is. They need more speed on the offense and defense, but the offense is always one injury away from a terrible season. They need a top RB, better WRs and a TE that can run after catching the ball. They are wasting a good oline because they don't have any offensive threats other than Dez snd Dez goes missing for periods during the games.

If we aren't going to take a qb in round one...

We might as well not even take a qb

Save me the garbage

Exactly, but I think they are convinced that they will find another Romo with a late round pick or an UDFA.

I've been saying the whole time that if we pass on a QB in the first I hope we don't take a lesser QB in the 2nd or 3rd while bypassing much better talent there. So that'd leave the 4th or later for a developmental, backup type.
the 4th is where i think they take one to

Garrett's obviously not going to show his hand. His comments are so vague they literally mean nothing. Trying to conclude what we will or will not do based on what he says to the media is fruitless.

Drafting a QB will "certainly be on the table" because Will McClay put it on the table. More specifically, drafting Wentz will be on the table.

Garrett is the master of saying a lot but really saying nothing. I'd almost rather listen to Jerry.

Yet if Bill Belicheck said the exact some thing, most of the whiners would be saying "That guy is so smart. He gives you nothing. Brilliant!"

I'm cool with:

Wentz at 4
Lynch at 34

And that's it.

I'm okay with Goff at 4 as well. RBs, LBs, S/CBs, DL come and go, etc. and can be had with good scouting later in the draft. Lynch won't be there @ 34 either so that may be the 1st pick as well:D

It's lying time now more than ever. Listing the players on the roster is great but he tried to not play Moore for most of the season and Showers? Really?

Ramsey will likely be gone by 4 and Wentz w/o a trade up. It's down to Goff/Lynch bc Lynch won't get to 34.
