Jason Garrett must go if this team wants a SB

By the way the spike was the right call. Hes playing for the TD not the FG. I agree with that. Didnt rush into a bad play call and allowed us to complete a 7 yard pass on 2nd down. And if that ball doesnt get knocked down he has Dez on the rub route for 15 on 3rd down and we are in business to win the game.

Haha...excuses! It ain't hard to say "run it"...or maybe it is?
Maybe your real frustration should be with Linehan.....or maybe you should realize that we scored on 6 of 9 possessions in the game and our offense wasn't the reason we lost...If you want to criticize for the 3rd and 2 play then maybe you should balance it by giving credit for some of the nice play calls that worked. Or is that too hard? I guess it is...

Fire everyone!!!!!

Oh....So any good offensive plays or calls or formations give credit to Linehan and any bad ones we have to crucify Garrett because he should have overruled Linehan...
So in the moment of a game with such little time to get the play in JG needs to intercept the play call and formation, then change the call and get the right personnel on the field....Thank god there isn't a play clock or anything,
I understand your point, but when the game is going on the coaches are talking about the next play before the previous play is even run. That's how they determine subs so quickly. This is the time the head coach can tell the coordinator, if we come up short here we need to run the ball or pass the etc. He doesn't need to be specific about the play if he doesnt want to, but he can determine the flow of the game. If the defense is tired, the HC needs to tell the OC, Hey let's slow it down, pound it a bit and milk some clock so our defense can regroup on the sidelines and vice/versa to the DC. The OC is just thinking about eh offense and the DC is just thinking about the defense. The head coach needs to take care of the offense when t we are on defense and take care of the defense when we are on offense.
I once scouted a game where the defense gave up a 12 play drive but came up with a great goalline stand on the 1 yard line. The offense went in and threw 3 straight incompletions taking about 20 seconds off the clock. Defense right back in. The DC went after the OC on the sidelines. The HC should have never allowed that to happen. Just an example, I'm sure Garrett does these things, its just that like everything else the bad call are always criticized.

I've been a critic of Jason Garrett for a long time. His clock mismanagement, the weekly penalties that are like clockwork, the inexplicable habit of turning away from what works to the detriment of the team's success and the lack of playoff success...these things have pushed me to believe he needs to go.

This past game was the last straw. Zeke Elliot is the best player on offense and yet he only gets 23 touches. They come out looking completely unprepared on both sides of the ball. Multiple times in short yardage Zeke wasn't even on the field.

And the last series where the game was lost is solely on Jason Garrett. There is no defending it. A competent HC either wins the game there or leaves the Packers with so little time overtime is all but assured.

Jason Garrett has done all he can as the HC of this team. It will always end the same way with him. How many failed seasons does this guy get before he's held accountable? How many coordinators will they go through? How many QBs?

They need fresh blood on the sidelines. I know it won't happen but I feel it must for this team to get over the hump and win another Lombardi. Just MHO.
Could not agree more...he has had plenty of time to right the ship. He just doesn't have "it". Great guy, decent coach, but not a great coach. You need the great coach to right this ship and put the final piece in the puzzle.

Since the personnel decisions have been more about Garrett and Stephen, and less about Jerry making WILD MOVES YEEEE HAWWWW the roster building has been very good overall. They need more defense, but it's very fixable, the offense is loaded, and they had huge hits at QB and RB to set them up long term. They don't have tons of cap space sunk in 30+ dead vets (other than Romo, which was basically unavoidable and nobody faults them for.) They don't give away draft picks to trade for big names that turn out to be trash players. That whole side of the equation is good, and Garrett deserves some credit for that.

Garrett will always be a mediocre gameday coach. He's basically on Andy Reid's tier, except his QBs can at least run a hurry-up offense sometimes. I can see him winning a title if they build a great team that gets hot at the right time, but I can't see him leading a multi-title dynasty team.

Wait, I thought that "Garrett built this team"? No?
So it was Jerry? So Jerry gets the credit for Dak and Zeke?

This flip flopping of Garrett homies is so typical
What are you even talking about? I've never had a problem with Garrett to begin with. I think he does a better job than most. For someone to flip flop on something, they have to have an issue with it from the beginning.

Its hard for any of us to know what goes on during the game. Its easy to look back in 20/20 hindsight and say the play call should be different. The problem is we as fans don't balance out the criticism with credit for the plays that did work. What we tend to do is give the players credit when the play worked and then blame the coaches for the plays that didn't work. I've never been a JG fan. But I don't believe he deserves such criticism today after he delegated us to a 13-3 season (really 14-2). And it just seems goofy to call for his head today. Do we really want to start all over at this point? Bring in a whole new regime, playbook, offensive and defensive coordinators ect.... Has he lost the locker room or something? I think its just a giant over reaction to the hurt we all feel over the loss.

You need the great coach to right this ship and put the final piece in the puzzle.

I'm looking at the coaches on the market and not seeing the next coaching Hall of Famer anywhere for the Cowboys to dump Garrett for. You can probably count on one hand the number of NFL coaches that are clearly better than Garrett, come to think of it, and of course those guys aren't going anywhere.

I don't even like Garrett that much, but great NFL coaches are rarer than great NFL quarterbacks at this point.

Ah the typical response from those who have nothing to say.

Tell me...when will be Garrett be held accountable? Next year? The year after?

This guy wasted Romo's career and he's moved on to Dak, now. Or does regular season success suddenly mean something now?

I don't want to start over either. I've met Garrett, he's very smart and very Knowledgeable, the issue I had with him back then was that he believes he's always right, you can't learn from your mistakes if you never own up to them. I hope this game opened his eyes a bit.

Yea yea he has no say in the game plan at all. You're right. The headset is just for show.

So he isn't responsible for the offense or defense and still can't manage the game effectively so...what's he doing on the sideline?
Earning coach of the year mentions while leading a team with a rookie QB to 13-3.
He seemed to manage 13 games effectively. I guess you cracked the code and figured out what the rest of the NFL couldn't this year. Keep the game close and we will lose because JG cant manage games......wait......good thing none of our games were close this year.

The issue I have with taking Zeke out, etc is they don't go by feel with him. It's literally a process. They have plays scripted for him, and when it's 3rd down Dunbar comes in. It doesn't matter what is going on in the game it stays the same. Now Linny is the OC, but JG is the HC and should ask for this stuff.

Btw speaking of Dunbar, he adds absolutely nothing!! Nada, Zilch.....1.5 million gone!!!

Nah regular season success has never meant anything....
Remember all those superbowl teams that were unsuccessful in the regular season? Those were the good ole days.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions. I'm glad there are people like you, someone who has NEVER criticized our Cowboys. Good for you!

That's correct I have not EVER criticized them because I know the difference between fandom and reality. Garrett is a great coach and will do great things when given the necessary time. It took Landry years so please stop with all the complaining. I do aplogize if I disrespected you however that was not my intent.

I'm fine with the culture under Garrett.

What I'm not okay with are the idiotic empty set backfields, abandoning the running game when it is working and is supposedly the identity of the offense, and his horrible late-game management.

All of these were on display on Sunday, and I believe we lost because of it.
