They hired a guy without a network of coaches with which to pull from who can run his system? Does he even have a system? Garrett certainly is not a guy who can come in and run someone else’s system. He wasn’t an offensive coach with NE. He was a Special teams coach and in the last year was given the WR as well. BB took him under his wing and worked with him personally to prepare him for this opportunity. And according to Judge, Garrett was on his short list of coaches he wanted when he interviewed with the team. There is a good article up on that teams site where Judge goes into why he wanted Garrett.

It is kind of like how Jones hired Garrett before Phillips, except in reverse.

It will all make sense after a year or two.
