Seems Garrett has been jumped on by so many here over the last 3 years and now he is the solution as the HC. I hope he does well but it does seem funny how so many have slammed Garrett and now he is the man? He can't call the offense effectively but can run the entire team.

it is kinda weird, but he has sounded impressive in his press conferences. lets see if this translates to the field.

Recap:

Alot of the mediots wanted to get specifics on how Garrett would be changing practices, meetings, etc. Garrett flat out said "The New York Giants don't care about a coaching change and right now we need to move forward with getting ready for the Giants at 4:15 on Sunday". He did not answer any questions that compared his style to Wade's but said that he laid out HIS expectations to the players this morning and that they will conduct full pads practices on Wednesdays. They had a good practice and overall I got that he is putting more urgency in practices than in the past.

They also questioned him about who will call plays and consult with the offense on the sidelines. He said he will be calling plays but other coaches will help with the sideline stuff. They also asked about the division of O and D. Garrett flat out said "I am the head coach of this team so it is my job to oversee it all" something to that effect. He said he would looking into all aspects of the team and asking coaches if they need input or will give input as he sees fit.

Overall it was another good presser, he stayed away from the baited questions but also re-affirmed his stance on how he will coach this team.

he just needs to be himself..i feel like he's trying to be a little more "stern" and "combative" than he really is to try to differentiate himself from Wade.

recap:

expect pads as part of the routine. didn't really say if it was only for wednesdays...might be more than once a week?

focused on the giants, nothing else.

will play the best players, regardless if they are rookies, free agents.

said 'of course' he will be involved with the defense b/c "i am the head coach"

"time to get down to business", basically no more playing around.

working hard to run the ball better and stop the ball better.

he treated the media lack rag dolls. during wade's pressers the media treated wade like a rag doll. not any more. he sounded like a young tom coughlin seriously.

Is that Arnie Spanier? He is a Cowboys hater from way back!

I was listening and he certainly had much more of a presence about him, and what he had to say, then Wade ever did.

Of course Wade never had any presence at all.

I have to admit, I`m starting to like this guy, of course this means nothing if they don`t respond to him on the field.

Kind of my feelings. I was fairly apathetic to the decision to make him interim coach, but so far I think he's off to a nice little start. Of course if we are still seeing the same-old stuff on the field four weeks from now, none of this will matter.

what's more amazing is how he means business, not going to put up with BS and all that but his offense was constant penalties, dropped passes, receivers not knowing where to line up, running backs not knowing who to block etc. but Wade is gone, all is well. I guess.

You never stood next to him at the local Chinese Buffet either.

Exactly. I'm not trying to gang up on Garrett but when you get right down to it he has as much blame for what has taken place thus far and seems to be getting a pass for 3 years worth of question marks as an OC. I have no issue with Wade being fired for the job he has done this year but has Garrett did a good job? People talk about players not performing should be benched yet shouldn’t that hold true for Garrett as well?
