..been saying this all along. Dial up the Peters insurance plan. He's good player, great sport and veteran support to OL.

Need someone at Oline thinking of Farniok, Ball, and Waleztsko as backup is pretty scary.

I'd like him back for his mentoring abilities alone. He and Tyler watched a lot of film together which greatly helped his development. Worst case assistant OL coach.

Probably won't get signed until after week 1 to avoid guaranteed vet min.
Stop with that stuff. When was the last time you saw a slew of post week 1 signings? Not really a thing anymore.

No NFL team wants to guarantee the contract of a limited 41 year old offensive lineman. Peters cannot play full games. He needs to be in a rotation. If he's on a roster for the first game, then his salary is guaranteed for the season. The earliest Peters will join any roster is after game 1 is done. And then he'd need a few weeks to get into game shape. I'm not against the idea of bringing Peters back if he's needed. But it won't happen in the next few weeks.

I like everything he brings to the table except the fact that he can't play full games and has a health risk factor,,, which is kind of a biggie. That and being a progress stopper for Asim, Hoffman, Waletzko, et al.
Still, beggars can't be choosers and the front office did this to themselves,

The trade off is if you signed him now, he’d have a few weeks to be in shape and available for week one.

If you signed him afterwards, you’re hoping that you don’t need him when the games do count.

Bring the dude in. He did well last year. Great leader and team guy too. He's capable and makes us better.

If he wants to lace em up, I would sign him to a reasonable 1-year deal in a heartbeat. I see no downside in having an insurance policy to hedge against a few injuries on the offensive line. He was good enough to not let the game get wrecked last year when he played.

Good teams should always be looking to add cheap, quality veteran depth like this. It is a long season.
Amen.

Sign him now, get him in shape, then release him before week one so his money isn't guaranteed. There can be a handshake deal in place to have him re-sign in week two and then I feel a lot better about the depth of this line.

Not to mention he's a great influence on the younger guys.
