Haven't seen anyone discussing this yet.

I think we'll destroy the Skins in Dallas, but having no Jason Taylor still makes me smile.

This will be a chance to see if Eramus James has any game at all.

I think Demetric Evans is getting the start... but James should see some action as well.

Jason Taylor didn't scare me much, but Evans scares me less.

oh he doesn't. My cousin is a die hard vikings fans. I've seen quite a bit of their games the last 3 years waiting on the cowboys games to start. I usually watch his and he stays to watch my games. Haha work schedules, ya know. Pretty much the only time we can hang out each week.

But back to the point. James is not a good DE. You don't release a first rounder that quickly if he was any good.

4 seasons, 5 sacks(four of those were his rookie year). He is injured quite a bit also.

Don't know that they're losing so much without Taylor, as he hasn't been that productive. I guess it hurts, though, that they have absolutely no depth there.

I realize this is Commanders weak, and I am among the most cautious fans when it comes to predicting wins (I'm a nervous nancy that never takes a game for granted). But the more I look at this game, the more I think this is a defense we should rip apart.

I know, I know -- it's Commanders Week; they'll be pumped; it's going to be tough. But strictly speaking from a matchups angle, I don't see much to like on their defense. An old corner in Springs, an average one in Rodgers; a ball-hawking safety in Landry that will get beat multiple times a game; another safety that's not any good; bad d-line; etc.

I know, right? I originally heard 7 to 10 days to recover. How long is he going to use this excuse?

And now he can't play because he got a calf bruise?!? Jason Witten gets his shoulder popped back in at halftime and continues to catch passes!

A calf-bruise? He was admitted to the hospital. His calf was bleeding internally, and once diagnosed he had to get it drained immediately. If it wasn't, the damage would have been permanent, ruining his career...

Sorry 'bout your luck.

Now your changing the 'argument'... I'm quite lucky, as this thread more than demonstrates.. The fact is, even your latest argument sucked, because Greg Ellis has been hurt way more than Jason ever was and missed way more games. So you lost again... You tried to change the argument to Jason taylor being hurt this year and Greg Ellis not, which proves he is more valuable. That is like saying Reeves is a more valuable cornerback for Houston than Newman is to the Cowboys, because Newman sat out games with a groin injury.

I absolutely love it when posters do this. They're losing an argument and they throw out crap like this...as a matter of fact, I was just talking about htis in another thread.

Taylor's play has been in decline for some time now. Ellis' has been steadily improving.

Your winning an argument? You soung like Wimp Lo, from Kung Pao, who thinks losing is winning... How has Ellis been steadily improving? He's a product this year of Wade Phillips scheme, like Marcellus Wiley... Even then, Jason Taylor put up as good numbers. Otherwise, he's a below ten sack 'artist' that got no pressure on the QB, but was known as solid in run support. Greg Ellis should be thanking his lucky starts he's playing alongside Ware and Ratliff and with Wade.... Otherwise he'd be putting up numbers that were just similar to Ekuban when he left the Cowboys to play for bottom-dwellers... He's had 8 years to put up above 10 sacks and he didn't.

Greg Ellis is lucky Spencer is hurt, otherwise Spencer would be taking his job, and Greg Knows it. That is why he keeps whining...

Plus no doubt Taylor's numbers were helped a great deal by playing in the AFC East. Very doubtful that he would have duplicated those numbers in the NFC East.

The NFC East blew worse than the AFC East during the majority of Greg Ellis' career... Try again...

Taylor is suffering from a form of Larry Allenitis. Takes about 7 days to get rid of the major problems with some lingering issues for up to 17 weeks.

Umm.....so what does the first quoted sentence tell you? Jesus man, you take like 24 hours to think of something and that's the best you can come up with?

I didn't bring up injuries as an excuse either for or against. You did. Your dog is old and tired, more so than mine.

It's not 2005, Barney. Give it up.

24 hours... Don't flatter yourself... or maybe, I left the forum to go do other things in life, and returned the next day...

It wasn't an excuse... It is a fact... And when you brought up Greg Ellis being injured and recovering, I brought up the fact that Greg Ellis has missed more games than Jason Taylor ever has...

So what have you actually brought to the table regarding Greg Ellis being better than Jason taylor? Nothing...

*sigh* YOU are the one that brought up Taylor playing on a sprained knee...hence the YOU were using the injury as a crutch statement. For the love of god, keep up.

I could care less about what they did 3-4 years ago bro...hence my IT"S NOT 2005 statement. Ellis has been a far better player than Taylor for the last year and a half...sorry that hurts your feelings.

You've brought jack squat to this conversation. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Zilch.

Look. I have nothing against you. You like Taylor. I like Ellis...well sorta...I just think he's a far better player for our system at this point. There is no point arguing this any further. Cheers.

I think it's funny how most of you are assuming you are just going to roll over us just because you beat a couple of other teams. Last year before the first game we had to put up with your crap, the general consensus was that you guys were gonna demolish us and win in a blowout, and the fact of the matter remains you didn't. You guys won, I'll give you credit, but it was a close game throughout that came down to the final minute. I won't even talk about the second game because you guys will just throw the house of excuses at us as to why that doesn't matter.

Haven't you guys learned by now that division games bring a little extra to the table? You think we are just going to come in your house and be quiet and be manhandled at your will? You know the Skins are feeling excited right about now after our two confidence building wins against two pretty decent teams (Don't kid yourselves, the Cards are good enough to win the NFC West and the same would go for the Saints if they had a decent defense), and they know what's at stake at this game. This isn't the Commanders team you faced two years ago in '06 (The reason I bring this up is because that was the last time the Cowboys won the game easily against the Skins, and we were downright horrible all throughout that year.) and even when you guys beat us last year the majority of your fans were concerned with the state of your defense for allowing us to stay in the game throughout.

All I'm trying to say here is that just because you guys rolled over the Packers and the Browns (like they are the powerhouse of the AFC this year) and won a shootout against the Eagles doesn't mean you are going to roll over us.

There is no crutch. He has been injured. And I know I brought up his being injured, so you tried to retort by saying Greg Ellis recovers better than Taylor. So even if the comment was sarcastic, it still is stupid, because you acknowledged that Jason is injured, affecting his performance. And I also put to rest the stupid argument that Ellis is somehow better because he recovers better, when he has missed more games than Taylor has ever.

I could care less about what they did 3-4 years ago bro...hence my IT"S NOT 2005 statement. Ellis has been a far better player than Taylor for the last year and a half...sorry that hurts your feelings.

No, Ellis hasn't. Jason Taylor put up better statistical numbers than Ellis last year, with the exception of sacks. Even then, that difference was a measly 1. He had more tackles, as many forced fumbles, and a return for a TD. And he played on a 1-15 team, without Ware and Ratliff to create additional pressure.

You've brought jack squat to this conversation. Nothing. Zip. Zero. Zilch.

Actually, that would be you.. What evidence have you given other than, regurgitating that I haven't bought anything...

Look. I have nothing against you. You like Taylor. I like Ellis...well sorta...I just think he's a far better player for our system at this point. There is no point arguing this any further. Cheers.

Neither do I have anything against you... But your argument taht Ellis is somehow in the same league as Ellis is a joke..

Sounds to me like like his career is pretty much over. "Risk of amputation" and "don't know when it's going to respond" are typically not good words to use when describing a 34 year old football player.

Jason Taylor-DL-Commanders Sep. 24 - 12:20 pm et

Doctors told Jason Taylor that he "would be done forever" if he hadn't undergone Monday's emergency calf surgery. Taylor was at risk of amputation had he waited longer due to nerve damage and "tissue necropsy." The surgery has him out indefinitely with no timetable for return. "Nobody knows when the body is going to respond," he said.

Turns out that doing the cha-cha for 4 months isn't a great way to prepare for a football season. Who coulda thunk it?

And you have somehow scientifically established the cause of necrosis with what Taylor did in the off-season? The bias is obvious..

Taylor getting into a little riff-raff with your boy Parcells during the off-season, under the guise of 'doing the cha-cha', does not demonstrate causation...
