So, firstly, below is his record as a HS coach since taking over in 2021.

https://www.nfl.com/news/11-time-cowboys-pro-bowl-te-jason-witten-coaches-high-school-team-to-state-title#:~:text=Liberty Christian is a kindergarten,26-10 in three seasons.

I think Jason Witten is an intriguing option. Based on a previous thread about Jerry talking about Witten as a potential NFL coach. He's got a good record as a coach in high school. What if we had him as OC?

I think Vrabel, Ben Johnson, or Glenn at HC and Witten at OC would be intriguing options. I, for one, would be intrigued to see it. I think Vrabel at HC, Witten (who knows Dak) at OC, and Bones at ST would be a fascinating coaching room. I could see that room developing a physical team. I would sign up for that actually.

We would likely have a very bad offense

I mean, we don't exactly have a great one now. I could see Jason Witten having at least a good mindset that he can instill. Not to mention he learned how to play tight end in the NFL from Dan Campbell his first few years. I think he could be a good OC for us. Gotta start him somewhere, and I actually like the idea of him calling plays.

Would be typical Jerry to attempt to mix and match a staff that has no connection together. That’s been a major part of the problem.

Has Dallas become the new apprenticeship for future coaches?

Not necessarily, but we could be developing our own coach in the future. Plus, if we have Vrabel or Ben Johnson, that could make for a good coaching room. Plus, he learned from Campbell and Parcells. If we want a Parcells disciple, Witten does technically fall under that category.

We cry year after year Jerry needs to stay out of the way. How about letting the HC pick who he wants for the job.

Well, perhaps as a tight end coach to begin with, but I think he actually would make a good coach for the Cowboys.
For the record he is one of my all time favorite players. The only one I actually sprung for the authentic jersey for, and I did so after his first season.

Yes, I’m sure Jason Witten could offer some great advice as far as how to play tight end.

But I’d like for the head coach to determine who he wants as his assistants, not Jerry Jones.

No one else in the NFL appears to be in a rush to hire Witten as an assistant. Jerry giving one of his buddies a token job would be more of the same that we don’t want to see.

Seriously until this stops….Jerry trying to collect coaches and players and mix them together with him as the orchestrator of it all, things will will never get any better.

Sorry but it’s true. Hiring Garrett as an OC before hiring a HC is the perfect example.

Better yet! What about a coaching room of Ben Johnson (HC), Witten (OC), Saleh (DC), and Bones (ST)? I think that would make a quietly good coaching room. Witten, who played with Campbell, could learn a Campbell-style offense (unless, like Campbell, he'd prefer to be a manager). Saleh would bring a Shanahan defence here. I think I'd enjoy that coaching room.

I get that, but I must say, Johnson, Witten, Saleh, and Bones does make for an exciting coaching room to me. Plus, Witten is someone who, I think it Ben Johnson asked about him, I think Campbell would have positive views of.

Big difference in Dan Campbell's physical attitude and the way he can commands the best from his players as a head coach, and actually having a mind to call plays Dan Campbell's not calling plays he's a walk around coach let's get that straight there's a difference you're asking Whitten to do something he's never done is being offensive coordinator here for the first time I don't think that would be a good situation because he knows people you don't want nepotism I don't want Sanders or Whitney here I want dudes to come in here and command the attention away from Jerry Jones if you bring in ex players it's just gonna be I don't know business as usual I think we need to try to at least get some neutral parties in here..

Hire Vrabel or BB and let them hire Coordinators.. done

Oh, no doubt. I would want a coach like Ben Johnson to pick his own OCs and such, and I could see Witten starting as a TE coach. But I would imagine Campbell might be interested in Witten on his coaching staff too.

Yeah that could work but I still don't want any of our ex players on the coaching staff it feels like nepotism it feels like he'd have a Direct Line to Jerry although Witten could learn a lot from Ben Johnson and why bring back bones I know he's been good but I don't really want al Harris or bones or anybody from the old regime it's time to wear a full purge let's just hire the head coach and let him decide. But in my opinion I prefer a strong nosed defensive minded coach first try to steal away spagnola even if it cost you 15,000,000 and make him a head coach I don't know if it would work but at least he has the good karma coming from Kansas City we can all rub his head or you get a guy like vrabel or Bill Belichick I want some hard nosed dudes in here i want a whole new staff let them pick the staff.

Well, yeah, but I'd love Ben Johnson as HC. If Jerry suggests Witten as a coach for the staff (at the very least as a TE coach to start with), I would imagine Campbell would probably approve. I don't know what's going to happen, but I wouldn't be opposed to Witten on the coaching staff, even at OC. I could imagine Witten preferring to be a walk around coach like Campbell is, but I would still be curious to see how he operates.

Why exactly do you like the idea of him calling plays? What has he done to give you any confidence in his ability to call plays for an NFL offense?

Well, Bones has been solid, but if Johnson wants someone else at special teams coach, then great. But still, I'd love to have Johnson or Vrabel. And the reason I said Saleh, as far as what I want at DC, is because I think he'd bring a physical Shanahan-style defence. The idea is to make the team more physical. I think Witten would encourage physicality on offense. We'd basically have two coaches from the Parcells tree who are young and someone from the Shanahan tree. That's a solid room.

And on this team I did not think it would be good we need all outsiders no Direct Line to Jerry that's just my opinion but yeah if Whitten wants to break in I think he should do it on another team as a assistant OC or a tight end coach and get his taste under a really good OC before you move him that fast I mean we've seen this with Garrett with a little too fast too soon and at least he was a quarterback he had a general understanding of how plays are called that's a bigger gap for a tight end I mean quarterbacks are already like an assistant offensive coordinator to their coordinators they're literally even on the sideline the backups are calling in in a Daisy chain the plays that are being called by the OC to the quarterback they're listening all the time they're actually they're in their ear they know what play calling is a tight end is pretty separated from that so you're taking too big a leap man and you guys are just really grasping at straws here wanting X players here I don't want them here right now..

This isn't the lion situation which by the way the lions have never done anything and they haven't done squat but they may be starting something good but they don't have the problems with the owner I don't even know the owner's name with the lions you just don't want X players here no nepotism let's bring in a tough nosed defensive minded guy to really let that spread I'd rather be like the Texans right now I mean new england's trying it I think they're trying it with the Raiders it's a mixed bag but I'll take what the Texans are trying to do they got a hard nosed guy and I believe didn't the Pittsburgh Steelers what was Tomlin before he became the head coach over there that's what we need that that dude gets so little respect really his name don't come up to how consistent he is with his teams no matter what the talent is he tries to get as much out of it I want one of those I think Vrabel might be the closest thing or Billlichick
