I keep hearing that Jason Witten said that Williams is the best 3rd receiver we've had since he has been with Dallas.

Does anyone actually have a source for this? Not that it would be all that difficult to achieve.

No, but uh, who did you hear this from?.....high praise coming from Jason, if true, especially since Williams hasn't even played a down in an NFL game.

The first couple times I only heard a veteran, and in the most recent instance I heard it was Witten. In all three instances I didn't recall the member who stated it.

I was wondering that, too. Thought maybe it could have been on Witten's Ticket show, but I couldn't find a podcast.

I've seen it referenced, but I haven't seen or heard the source quote anywhere, either.

"Oh, you thought I meant *Jason* Witten said that? No, it was my neighbor, Jacob Witten. I should have been clearer."

Dez Bryant, Miles Austin, Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, Keyshawn Johnson.

Yeah, cracking the top 3 would be a cake walk.

???

None of those guys were 3rd receivers. I'd say Crayton is who he'd have to measured against.

I think he must have read "3rd best" instead of "best 3rd."

And I'd be shocked (and overjoyed) if Witten actually said this.

Measuring against

2007- Sam Hurd
2008 - Patrick Crayton
2009 - Patrick Crayton
2010 - Roy Williams
2011 - Laurent Robinson
2012 - Kevin Ogletree

It isn't saying too much, but I think looking at this list, you can see just how much Romo makes players better than they really are. If Williams can be ancillary in his role in our offense I think we'll see the offense open up a great deal.

We're talking a lot about the 12 formation (and I do think it is important), but what is most vital is our ability to spread wide and be imposing from a 3 receiver set. With Austin in the middle and Bryant and Williams on the outsides... I think people will absolutely rue playing us. When you go deeper into what the offense can do with the 12, 13, and with a player like Beasley, I think we'll give teams a lot of looks that they won't necessarily appreciate. It's a lot to prepare for, and isn't as conducive to the book on Romo where you just play 2 man under and blitz the hell out of us. Especially if we can run more efficiently this year, which is also part of the reasoning behind the 12 and the 13.

I never want to hear craytons name again. He alone is the reason there is so much scrutiny on Romo. Back to seattle game..everyone blew up the field goal bobble, but what happend on all those 3rd n 4th down conversions that were dropped. Smh Romo fought so hard in that game and he gets a career of scrutiny.

I'm just glad Williams has really been turning it on since he returned to practice. Who cares if Witten made an exaggerated comment. You guys make the biggest deals out of the most miniscule things. Every word from any player’s mouth is dissected. Witten makes a positive comment on a teammate so fricken what. It is like people miss the bigger picture and focus on the ridicules

No. It was reported on the radio a couple of days ago that he said "potentially the best". He thought he would be better than L Robinson even. Witten was very excited about him, according to the guys on The Fan.
