Jason Witten should be embarrassed

I went from 7th grade coach to HC-AD in seven months..undefeated my second year and ranked in the top 10 in the state of Texas in year 3 and 4....I was not qualified, but I sure as hell didn't turn down the opportunity....
Dang, bad to the bone!! Go on with yo bad self.

I threw a no-hitter for Mobile Home Court when I was 12....later that summer we moved across town where everybody played golf or just goofed off....there was zero pick-up baseball going on....I picked up golf, and never played baseball again. I could have been in the majors by 19 or 20.

If what we all think is gonna happen, does in fact happen, I'd be embarrassed as hell if I was Plow Boy. This is like the owner of a company forcing his do nothing son on some executive, and instructing he/she to show him the ropes....only to have him take your job some day and ultimately fail. Go make your own way in life Plow Boy....you were already handed an announcing gig with ZERO experience, and failed big time....so now you are expecting a fast track to a NFL Head Coaching gig by doing nothing other than coaching a High School Christian School??? Maybe it's just me, but if this does play out, I really would be embarrassed if I were him....have some damn pride. The transparency of this is already being talked about everywhere....and will only get worse.
What's embaressing is that many of our enemies fans are already feeling sorry for us. Saying that they actually would like the Cowboys to get their act together.

Don't want him as HC but you know what's really embarrassing? The whiny Dak fangirls in this thread who hate on a great player because he's Romo's friend lmao, rent free.

Are we talking emotions associated with disapproval? Or are we talking about emotion associated with embarrassment?
Not sure what you are getting at, but it's the acknowledgment that you were given something you didn't quite earn. Anyone can say, "I don't care...", but the reality is that his job is one where perception of how he got the job - inside/outside the locker room - does matter. If Witten is anything as he is described, he would know inside himself that he leapfrogged more qualified candidates...and so does everyone else. So he could say, "I don't care...", but it would ring hollow.

If Jerry picked my name out of a phone book and asked me to coach, I would be doing a press conference tomorrow.
Have a like for term “phone book” alone. That made me happy.

Meanwhile, as long as you’re willing to work cheap, stay near the landline.

I’m old and having a little fun. Please understand.

I was sticking to the thread topic of how Jason Witten would feel after receiving the head coaching position. You said, "So he could say, "I don't care...", but it would ring hollow." So I will assume Witten's reaction would be disappointment of the disapproval he might feel from others' perception that he cannot do the job instead of personal embarrassment. Apologies if I got that wrong.

Why should Jason Witten or anyone else be embarrassed for accepting a job handed on a silver platter? That is backwards. The person, who should be embarrassed, is the one handing the job to someone not qualified to do the job in the first place.

Jerry Jones handed himself the job of general manager without any degree of football executive experience or expertise. He handed Jason Garrett an offensive coordinator position with barely any coaching experience. Then followed up with naming him as his head coach in relatively short order afterwards.

In my opinion, the embarrassment bullseye is centered on Witten's potential boss. Not that it matters. The emotion bounces off him like suction-less nerf darts off a brick wall.

In either event he will have placed himself in the position of beloved star to hated failure if it goes south. I don't like this for us or him.

Agreed. My crystal ball has never bought into Jason Witten being Jerry Jones' pick at head coach.

Jones has a track record. It is made out silly string, but he has one. It is more likely Jones would install Witten on a coaching staff first, just as he did with Jason Garrett. If that happened, the question becomes, "How fast will he fast track Witten to the top spot?"

He always seems to believe he's grooming the next great thing. I'd say 2 years and the HC is fired. Then Witten is promoted to HC.

This seems incredibly far off base and very heavily laced with unwarranted animosity toward Witten.

First, I don't think it's a fair statement that we all think Witten is going to get the head coaching job. His isn't even the name most often discussed.

I also don't think it's fair to suggest he expects it. What is there to indicate that?

As for the announcing gig with no experience, that happens all the time with former players and coaches. Yeah, he failed at it, but that doesn't somehow mean him getting a chance to do the job was unusual. It wasn't

what Cowboy fan criticizes Jason Witten?

I never quite understood what position he is “ supposedly “ coming in at ? Is it TE position coach . I mean Lunda Wells who was with the Giants then came here didn’t exactly light up the TE position on the roster . Ferguson took a drastic step back this year Schoon was invisible and Spann Ford the “ highly sought after “ FA had not one TD did be ?

If Witten came in as TE position coach it’s comparable to Marc Columbo being an OL coach in the NFL .

Witten is one of the best TE’s to have ever played could he not employ some wisdom conduct a position training camp help TE’s ?

Anything higher than TE position coach yes that’s problematical.

Given this theory, a point well made, so.....why should a player turn down money that's offered then.......we've been bashing the wrong guy, with daily threads & unrelenting obsession, all this time.......Jerry has fooled many on here. Hmmm.

I'm not qualified, not in the least. But I can promise you one thing - if Jerry were to approach me and offer me 4 mil a year to walk around on the sidelines pretending to be the HC while he is the wizard calling all the shots and hiding behind the curtain, I take the job in an instant.

I have 20 mil in 5 years and the rest of my life is set. I would be dumb to not take the gig.
There is no sane person who would say no, what’s the worst that could happen get fired

He would not instruct Martellus Bennett WHEN ASKED BY MARTELLUS while teammates....let that sink in!!!! And then there is the whole Cabo thing.....so please don't be so quick to run to one of "your boys" defense just because an idiot like me tags him with a childish nickname.

If he’s hired as a TE position coach I doubt he would say “nope” not telling this guy how to get open how to effectively block . Cmom man you got to come up with something better .

“ Cabo thing “ holy smokes one of the best right ends ever and Cabo is circled on the map .
