Jason Witten should be embarrassed

If you know you aren't qualified and have a righteous mindset he wouldn't take the job. You think everybody would? That's a flat out lie
I'm not qualified, not in the least. But I can promise you one thing - if Jerry were to approach me and offer me 4 mil a year to walk around on the sidelines pretending to be the HC while he is the wizard calling all the shots and hiding behind the curtain, I take the job in an instant.

I have 20 mil in 5 years and the rest of my life is set. I would be dumb to not take the gig.

Yes, by all means let’s place responsibility at the feet of a potential candidate. We must do whatever is necessary to protect this feeble owner from himself.

It’s all on you, Jason. Do what’s right!

Would you be embarrassed taking the job though?

Help us, Obi-Wan Kenobi Jason Witten. You are our only hope.

:)

If the reports are true that JJ tried to force McCarthy to take on Witten as the heir apparent, that's shameful. Couldn't blame McCarthy for walking away from that hot mess.

Not sure why some people are butthurt that a former player might be included as part of the staff next year. It's a given that pretty much everyone under the HC is looking to get bumped up in the coaching ranks. It only becomes a problem if you are weak.

If what we all think is gonna happen, does in fact happen, I'd be embarrassed as hell if I was Plow Boy. This is like the owner of a company forcing his do nothing son on some executive, and instructing he/she to show him the ropes....only to have him take your job some day and ultimately fail. Go make your own way in life Plow Boy....you were already handed an announcing gig with ZERO experience, and failed big time....so now you are expecting a fast track to a NFL Head Coaching gig by doing nothing other than coaching a High School Christian School??? Maybe it's just me, but if this does play out, I really would be embarrassed if I were him....have some damn pride. The transparency of this is already being talked about everywhere....and will only get worse.
You're right, I'd be embarrassed if it was you, too. As for Witten, why would he be embarrassed? If he gets the opportunity and takes it, good for him. A HC doesn't need to be an Xs and Os guy as much as he needs to be a motivator, carry a big stick, have his pulse on the psyche of the team. Many scheme smart coaches fail, because they don't have the guts that it takes to be a HC. So, yes.....I'd be embarrassed, if I was you.

You can bet one thing, he won't be a puppet boy..........................

.Witten played long enough in the league to see how it's done.
Would he be successful? iDK.

Why should Jason Witten or anyone else be embarrassed for accepting a job handed on a silver platter? That is backwards. The person, who should be embarrassed, is the one handing the job to someone not qualified to do the job in the first place.

Jerry Jones handed himself the job of general manager without any degree of football executive experience or expertise. He handed Jason Garrett an offensive coordinator position with barely any coaching experience. Then followed up with naming him as his head coach in relatively short order afterwards.

In my opinion, the embarrassment bullseye is centered on Witten's potential boss. Not that it matters. The emotion bounces off him like suction-less nerf darts off a brick wall.
Only those with low self esteem and confidence would be embarrassed

Tom Brady on line one for you!

And again, you don't have a righteous mind or have righteous intentions. That's fine for you I guess

I think any negative reaction is associated with the specific position Witten would be hired to do. The thread topic is him being given the head coaching position. I doubt there would be any criticism of him starting out as an assistant coach.

not sure 20 million, given what you lose in tax, would set you up for life but I have your point

I believe there would be some warranted criticism if Jason started as OC or higher. But that is speculation at this point. I do believe wherever he starts he will get promoted fairly quickly.

It's embarrassing that any businessman would reveal that to be his plan.

And what does it say to, or about, the person who takes the mentoring position?

If I were Jason I'd take the job with no regrets. I didn't go begging; they came calling. If it don't work out I benefit financially and Iearn a little more about coaching.

I was never a big Witten fan. He was a major part of those teams that always choked in the playoffs. The leadership was just never there so there's no way I would make him a head coach.
