Signed by Cowboys Jason Witten signs four-year extension through 2021

"Another dumb move"? You're acting like this is the Brown's organization. We were just 13-3 primarily due to an influx of rookies and an Oline this management put together. They absolutely know what they're doing.

Says who you? Maybe I have higher standards than you do?

How is signing an over the hill Witten for another 4 years a SMART move?

But again, lets wait till we see the contract. My bet is this is nothing more than a cap saving move.

Definitely leading up to something.

doubt his extension is any more than a way to lower his hit this year.

Awesome!! Cowboy for life, y'all! The way it should be. He knows we (Dak) gonna get him that ring!

4 more years, dude is still gonna be open :)
I think it's because he's so slow that secondaries completely lose sight of him - it's like an X-men superpower! We used to think speed kills but J-Witt is flipping that old adage on its head!

Todd Archer said 2017 salary cap number is the same with this extension. They can restructure later to add more cap room.

Love it, cleared 4 mil cap space and kept one of the brst Cowboys of all time until he retires.

inquiring minds want to know

From ESPN:

There is no guaranteed money in the deal, but the Cowboys have the right to restructure his $7.4 million base salary this year to create nearly $4 million in room. The money can come in handy if the Cowboys have the opportunity to acquire a difference-maker in a trade later this offseason or even during the season.

Who cares? Great player that they have no chance of replacing this year anyway so no big deal. They have enough holes to fill without worrying about TE.

Part of me think Witten feels disrepected by Rico's statement that he will be replacing Witten...

Witten signed a four-year extension through 2021 on Tuesday that maxes out at $29.6 million
