Jason Witten

So what exactly is the argument here. That we should have kept Rico.......or should give Wittens spot to Lucas.........or just carry two TE's on the roster?

I think we should give a lot more opportunity to Jarwin than an ordinary no.2 TE but I have no problem having Witten back and having seen him in training camp. I don't get why anyone thinks he won't get his 500 yards and 5 TD's for the season. He has his limitations but he's a wiley veteran that IMO can still get it done.

I saw him at TC and the old war horse still had it. He'll probably be on the field 60/40, because Jarwin is for real.

I am not so sure that he is needed this yr. I know this is blasphemous but I just do not see it. He has done a lot for the franchise over the yrs, I just don’t like the move. That’s all, I’ll take my lumps.

My viewpoint was that Witten was a worthwhile addition as long as the team used him as a role player rather than as an every down player like they have in the past. I'm sure he can still find a gap in the defense and catch the ball, and he knows the game and has a great work ethic that is a good example for other players. But I'm starting to come around to believing like you - that they really should just move on and go with a fresh outlook at TE. The one obstacle to that (well, aside from the fact the Cowboys aren't likely to cut him anyway) is that Jarwin and Schultz are injured. I'm not sure if there is a worry that either could miss early regular season games, but if there is the team needs Witten.

This wasn't about the team needing him, he needed the team. I doubt the man has suffered the ridicule he did as an analyst and the only way to get that bitter taste out of his mouth was to get back where he was always at home.

I doubt you could find a more favorite player for Booger and Garrett than Witten. He was there when they needed him, might not make football sense to some but there was no way they were not going to be there for him. That had to be tough for them to watch him struggle in the booth and I believe that was one reason they tried to get him back.

For ESPN, they get out from under a contract but they still have an awful presentation. It is as if they are trying to give themselves a reason to dump out of MNF.

Don't listen to them......
I don't know how to help you then. That's old news now and hard to find a reference to it today. I did find a story that was written a few days before that draft and published the day Witten announced his decision. The article implies Jason was still trying to decide what to do at that point. Interview for the job had happened the week before and Jerry was still trying to convince Wit to stay on the team...

Yes, there is a reason the Cowboys didn't use Witten the same as Gronk because their coaches had two different philosophies on how to use them. Your point about Witten's catch radius is ridiculous. I don't buy it for a second, but thanks for the laugh.

If you think I came out swinging then you might be sheltered a bit much. I was just giving you some free advice on how to get along with folks around here. Looks like you'd rather just be a jerk though. How special is that?

Just stop, smh.

Your knee length Witten jersey pajama is soaked in tears.

Witten quit on the team because he got an offer he couldn’t refuse. Then, after failing miserably, he conveniently “rediscovered” his passion for the game.

That's a nice story you've convinced yourself is true but it's just not. I see you're the type that always sees the worst in humanity. How's that working for you? It does explain why you come across as a jerk. Good luck with that. :)

I don't think so. He disliked Linehan big time.

Wrong.

And it, yet again, slows the progress for another season.

This dude quit during the draft!!!!!! Who does that?

Have you just tuned in to what’s been going on for over a month now?

I see you’re living in an alternate universe where Witten didn’t quit the team, lol.

Remember that when someday you are fortunate enough to retire. It's not the same as quitting. But whatever, there really is no point to arguing a point with someone as ignorant as you.

I’m not saying he’s still not the best TE on this team but Witten is not a very good blocker anymore.

His blocking skills aren't what they once were. That's fair to say but he's still a better blocker than Jarwin, by a good margin.

I honestly haven't seen enough of Schultz's blocking to be sure but I think it might be a tie between those two. Just a guess.
