He's probably healthy enuff to play .. but is he anywhere near the previous player he was prior to the ACL injury ?https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/...e-himself-again-excited-by-cowboys-playmakers
Williams is fully healthy 3 years removed now form his injuries.
And he is ready to go prove himself and produce for the offense.
Also on this link is a slideshow of 55 photographs from the OTA's.
and why is that?People want Nick Chubb around here. Adrian Pederson....... This isnt Gayle Sayers Drs doing the work.Dont think he will ever be looking like Pre Injury again.
Not sure who that is in pic #6 but he looks like a beast.https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/...e-himself-again-excited-by-cowboys-playmakers

Problem with the preseason is that the *starters* usually don't play. Zeke didn't take one snap last preseason while Deuce and Lance had the most rushing attempts. He's probably healthy enuff to play .. but is he anywhere near the previous player he was prior to the ACL injury ?
Some players manage to regain that previous form ...while some others do not.
We don't need slow- to- hole " lumberers " to stymie this run game we're trying to get finally moving.
Time will tell .. especially come preseason ..
Remember the “Moose” calls back in the early 90’s everytime Daryl Johnston carried the ball or caught a pass? His biggest value however was lead blocking for #22. I can’t wait for the “Luepke” calls when he does the same for Javonte or the Blue rookie.https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/mailbag-could-roles-change-for-deuce-luepke
I will also include this since it deals with RB's.
No need for a different thread.
They discuss the roles of Deuce and Luepke. Yes they have been discussed, but here are a few answers to consider for further discussion along with the OP of Williams being healthy. And any challenges for all 3.
That was a different coaching staff. The jury’s out on how Shotty will handle the vets in preseason games.Problem with the preseason is that the *starters* usually don't play. Zeke didn't take one snap last preseason while Deuce and Lance had the most rushing attempts.
I don’t know who was responsible for brining Zeke back last year, Jerry or MM or both. Jerry most likely, but that was one of the dumbest moves I’ve seen them make in the last 30 years.I'm intrigued by Williams and I probably have a higher view of his upside than most. If this line stays healthy and blocks as it should, I can easily see him getting his average YPC back over 4.0 even while being our short yardage specialist. At worst, I think he's a healthier, younger, and cheaper version of what Zeke was giving us his last few seasons with the team (2020-2022).
Part of the rehab is mental. How focused you are with your rehab. Some don’t realize that they can do more and think they’re doing all they can do. Eventually they learn that’s not the case. Many other reasons as well. We'll see. Hope thats the case. Don't really remember a RB taking 3 seasons to recover and then playing like they did pre-injury, but it would be amazing.
He had a 4 out 5 different OL starters in 2021 than since he came back and a different scheme. That interior OL sucks. He's probably healthy enuff to play .. but is he anywhere near the previous player he was prior to the ACL injury ?

Rico was dam good once the O line started blocking.Rico was GOOD.
Both have been way better than Rico. Though Sanders is probably washed up now. They chose Williams over Rico. And I know they are right.Rico was dam good once the O line started blocking.
Sanders and Williams are not near as good as Rico!
We should have resigned him for a very reasonable 3-4 million per year.
Question is, why did Sean Payton decide to draft a rookie RB over keeping Williams aroundBoth have been way better than Rico. Though Sanders is probably washed up now. They chose Williams over Rico. And I know they are right.
Justin Rogers. Not sure who that is in pic #6 but he looks like a beast.
He certainly looks like a DT.Justin Rogers.
The only reason they did was to save money. Rico averaged 4.6 yards per carry, while Williams averaged just 3.7. That's a massive difference, and a significant downgrade for Dallas. Dallas could have used the money they spent for 2 washed up JAGs to just re-sign Dowdle. I'm not even a big Dowdle fan either. The alternative was to use a higher pick in the draft for a 3-down back. They chose Williams over Rico. And I know they are right.
Yep, I definitely agree with your logic here. The only reason they did was to save money. Rico averaged 4.6 yards per carry, while Williams averaged just 3.7.
