Yeah, I’ve definitely seen great, all pro type players get plenty of the benefit of the doubt. IMO, that has more to do with just the players than with what team they’re on… at least that is what I think.

I do think that personal bias can sink in with refs. They’re only human, afterall. And we know that Dallas (aka America’s Team) is universally disliked by other team’s fan bases. Does that seep in to their calls? I wonder sometimes.
I think it does. Hell and who knows it might benefit us as well to. I don’t think there’s some conspiracy I just think there’s some pros and cons of being “Americas Team” and that’s one.

There is just so much room for “error” in a sport where a penalty can be called on nearly every play. If one flag was thrown because of any reason… how would anyone ever know?

Nobody would have any idea. I’m not saying any bias does cause a call… but easy opportunity is there.

I don’t think the refs are necessarily trying to screw Dallas… but that was an awful call. Oh well, the team can still see the play Tolbert made. Good for him.
I don’t think people necessarily are always saying the NFL is trying to screw one team or another, I agree.

But the consistency is what lacks.

Tolberts? OPI, alright.

Gallup vs the Rams? OPI

Godwin vs Dallas? No OPI

I am sure there are a ton of examples. I just always feel like these OPIs should be reviewable late in the game

I know it… those calls were crap, for sure. Inconsistent as hell.

In recent memory, when Shawn Hochuli's referee crew is working a Dallas game, the most gawd awful, ticky-tak, and downright wrong penalties are called on the Cowboys, as well a slew of non-calls that hurt our Boyz. I believe his crew even set some flag hurling records calling Dallas games.

I was shocked to see Shawn Hochuli's crew throw 6 penalty flags on Dallas while Jacksonville got 13. Did Big Mike finally get thru to the players about penalties, did Jerry invite Shawn onto his yacht in the offseason, or is Shawn Hochuli saving his flags up for the regular season and the playoffs? It's a mystery.
Or perhaps this year's crop of guys likely to be backups or cut was more disciplined than last years crop...I never believed the thought process that refs were out to get us

That is the issue , either apply it consistently or give benefit of doubt to either offense or defense consistently. When you dont do that it becomes comical.

Hochuli's crew still got a workout in. They tossed 19 flags; the average is 11 or 12. No one responding cares about the 13 flags the Jax got, lol. Me either I suppose.

Good ole' Hochuli, his crew usually leads the league in flag tossing.

this

But in truth Dallas often gets favors from the refs when going against less anointed teams. League has no love for Florida teams, Carolina, Colts, etc.
