Twitter: Jay Ratliff released...Ending His 8-Year Run In Dallas

Can't wait to hear the details. This seems to be a bad situation that developed.

We need him big time. But if we can't get him on the field I don't know what else one would do? Is there more to the story as to why he wasn't on the field? If not, then I don't think the Cowboys had much choice.

Is he healthy enough to play is the real question?

I said in December of last year or so, he would never suit up for the Cowboys again. You just can't get physical with owners if you are a football player. Can't do that.

Have I missed something?

About time. He did not want to play for us anymore. Remember those run ins with Jerry

THUD!!!

Seriously, this is disappointing and not a way I would have liked to see his career end.

So sad that it ended this way.
Hopefully we will be able to find out the story behind this at some point in the future.

Anyone know the cap hit ???

Here's what I found in the NFL.com article, very interesting though, it seems this might free up $1mm+ this year - maybe enough to sign an FA for the rest of the year?

"By cutting him now, the Cowboys will stop paying his $1.34 million base salary. The majority of his $10.268 million cap charge will roll over into next year."

**breaking**The Cowboys have released defensive tackle Jay Ratliff from the reserve/physically unable to perform list as failed physical.

This is kinda questionable, but I guess I'm one of the few that hates to see the guy leave. In this new scheme, he could've finally played the position he was made for, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.

Wish the best to him, and wish he was suiting up for us even through all the off the field problems. He will be productive somewhere else, just like TNew.

Ratliff will be paid his full $715,000 salary this year. The rest of the dead money from contract will on 2014 cap. Off the books in 2015

Source, said the move was best for both sides. There wasn't about any anger or animosity from the Cowboys, just simple business

@STALEFEESH: @BryanBroaddus Why not put Ratliff on IR so no chance of another team picking him up??” They were ready to move on. Time.

It's too bad, but the way things were going, we are better off without him. He just didn't want to be here. Time to move on.
