Hey big guy, their draft was outstanding. They now have 7 running backs on the roster. That's right 7 and the interior oline is solid for many years to come.

Probably running between the tackles, like we decided to do with Pollard when we made him the lead back. Had a player we needed to get outside the tackles and we insisted to run him more between the tackles. Every runner has to run between the tackles some to keep defenses honest, but you don't take race cars and turn them into demolition derby.

I agree. The promise of an improved offensive line suggests the possibility of getting a guy like Blue past the first level to use that speed to outrun the defense.

How is Blue anything more than a specialty back, the pass-catching speedster that takes advantage of a worn-down defense, courtesy of the more rugged starter?

I'm not opposed to drafting him here, but he is not the solution to the Cowboys inability to run the ball. The opportunity to acquire that guy faded when the lights were turned off after day #2.

Blue does remind me of Dorsett with the pass catching and hands , routes. Speed. He's a Glider like TD. Deceptive. Just when you think you have the contain on him he still gets around you. With Mafah, he just will run over you first then hits his top speed . Nobody wants to tackle a big RB coming down hill.

Full context. You guys recall last year how we thought the Texas RB Brooks was a lock for Dallas? Hurt knee and all? Then we didn't get him . Then we passed on all the backs. Looking back, aren't you guys glad? Tell me which backs from 2024 draft class stood out. Now look at how deep this class was at RB. I'd say we did good.

Got to pop him on the edges. That doesn't mean he has to run wide. We need to use the guards/center to cave the middle of the defense and the tackles and tight ends to kick out and let him go between the tackle and guard for explosive plays. If we try to bang him behind the guard and center, he's not built for that. Hit the gap between the G/T, go off tackle or sweep. Those should be his bread and butter plays along with screens and getting the ball in his hands on passes. Let Williams or Mafah be the pounder.

2024 was definitely a weak class, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. We took a fifth-round back and seventh-round back. The probability is higher that they are Vaughn and Scarbrough than they are Bucky Irving and Bo Jackson.

The hit rate in the fifth-seventh round is around 20 percent. For example, the 2023 draft had 10 backs taken from the fifth to seventh rounds. Only two of them can be considered successes at this point and might be stretching it with the second.

They are Israel Abanikanda (70 total rushing yards so far, 3.2 average), Chase Brown (more than 1,000 yards, 4.3 average), Eric Gray (79 yards, less than 3 per carry), Evan Hull (1 yard), Chris Rodriguez (420 yards, but 4.9 per carry), Deuce Vaughn (60 yards, 2 per carry), Zach Evans (19 yards, 2.1), Dwayne McBride (cut), Lew Nichols III (cut, then signed to Philly's PS), Kenny McIntosh (IR, nothing since)

Irving for the Buccs looks good. But I felt this way last year. Might be a blessing in disguise we didn’t take a back. I liked the backs better this year.

Emmitt is listed as 221 LBS in a 5'9 frame, somewhat more compact than Blue.

I don't really understand the comparison. Blue is 200 LBS in a 6" frame.

I think Blue would be perfect filling the role of RB2 like Pollard did when Zeke still had gas.

The Cowboys don't need another Zeke. They just need a consistent pounder. I suppose there is a possibility that Mafah, our other drafted rookie RB, could be that guy but will he be at 100% when training camp starts?
 
...I use to run a 4.6 and the wind would whirl by me.

Cant imagine someone running 4.3 ..lol.. This kid could be our home run hitter.
