Jaylon and the draft

what Depth? we have no depth at LB.If Lee goes down we are in a world of hurt.
Someone between Wilson Wilber and Hitchens really needs to step up... would have liked a LB over White, if for nothing else to push those 3 and create competition.

Asked if they didn't draft a LB because of Jaylon Smith or because of their depth at the position, Stephen Jones says "both."

There were LBs, RBs, TEs, QBs and OL that the team liked in the draft.

The board just never lined up to select those positions.

Dallas needs to find a new sixth LB so Kyle Wilber can be churned. Wilber is a special teams player with no value on defense, Damien Wilson took over the limited snaps at SLB last season. Hopefully, we can find an undrafted free agent or first year player that can ball on specials and also improve depth at WLB.

They're pretty high on both Wison and Nzeocha for the SAM/MIKE backup jobs. Hitchens plays WIL and MIKE, Lee plays WIL and MIKE, Wilber, and then Jaylon. It looks to me like we're shy a player and a couple of camp bodies with Jaylon back and Durant gone. Though Gachkar's still a VFA and available if we need him. We're thin for camp, but have the LB positions covered for the season unless somebody goes down.

wait, isn't that kid from Wyoming on our UDFA list? SB bound

Nzeocha has shown nothing yet, dont see how we he can be counted on to perform. We are hanging our hat on Lee being healthy and Jaylon actually playing NFL football. We will see how this goes in TC but it could be our only weakness in terms of depth.

Can't remember every round but only time I was thinking we had a legit LB to grab was when foster slid...

But no he seems like McClain 2.0

It could be. Though any team in the league is going to be thin at a position group if you take out two of their targeted starters off the bat.

The fact that we fans haven't seen Nzeotcha doesn't mean much. The coaches at this point have seen a lot more than they'd have seen of any rookie we'd have brought in. We fans just don't know what that looks like.

yep,we cannot take that risk with weed after being burned repeatedly.Until they stop testing we should stay away from pot heads.

Wacka and Gilchrist are UDFA we signed and pretty good athletes at the LB position.

Watch out for Damian Wilson. He's gonna be the starting SAM

It'd be really nice if he can take another big step forward this season.

A lot of this on the LB corps comes down to Jaylon and his magic nerves. If he's back and can play at a high level, we'll have a flexible and (mostly) young LP corps. If not, we're going to be looking for this year's Durant at cut-downs.

Stephen's response indicates the confidence that the staff has in the incumbents to put forth some very good performances in TC.

I think Hitchens, Wilson, Jaylon Smith and Mark Nzeocha are all extremely promising candidates to prove themselves as keepers.
