Why do some posters have such disdain for a guy who had god-given ability on a football field, suffered a horrendous injury, and kept a positive mental attitude while rehabbing and dealing with the reality that he may never play football again…and ultimately succeeded in getting back on the field and playing football at the highest level and getting paid for it.
I get it, he didn’t live up to his contract; but Jerry and Stephen gave him the contracts and the money. So blame them should you feel so inclined.
As an aside, I am curious to know how many of his detractors would be able to do what he did, who possess the mental fortitude, discipline and faith to succeed in the face of adversity…

Because he was a clown on the field? I don't care about your rah-rah BS about him. Those sob stories work with Jerry Jones.

Also "god given ability" - yeah he was fast, but there is a mental aspect to football and he wasn't exactly the brightest player.

He's a good guy, you can't blame him for the Cowboys for using an early 2nd round pick on him. The FO should have full blame for that.

The reason the fan base feels that way is because his self promotion got old. No one wants to see a player celebrating a tackle 7 yards down the field when we are losing by 3 tds. It made him look like the concept of team didn't matter.

This wasn't an isolated thing, he did crap like that regularly.

Personally he might be a fantastic guy, but he could or didn't care to read the temperature of the room. It made him difficult to watch. None of that even goes towards how terrible he was on the field in general, which only amplified everything.

Easily in my top 3 least favorite football players of all time. He stood out so badly for most of his career at times he made Cowboys football almost unwatchable. I am not even exaggerating one bit. I bet the rest of the defense wanted to Gomer Pyle him after the Eagles loss at the end of 2019.

Not surprising at all. Among the knocks on him were that he was constantly on his phone at practice and over self-promotion on the field. We could be down 3 TDs , but he'd be celebrating every tackle like he won a super bowl. It was getting comical. He was a jump on the pile kind of guy. He preferred to chase plays from behind rather than intercept at LOS.

Meh dude was trash as a player and I guarantee his is one of the slimiest guys out there. I wouldn't trust him to wash my car. He would figure out a way that it would benefit him more than me.

I would pay him 20 bucks to wash my car only to find out I was locked into buying 500 bucks worth of broken sunglasses.
