So I get why they cut him right now. But, what is the hit for salary cap for next year by getting rid of him. Dead money? Cap hit? Savings?
I think the LB play was poor last year, but until the draft, they didn't know for certain it could be improved rapidly. So if the defense plays much better this Sunday. Was it because Jaylon was not out there. Which I am sure many will state that.
Or because Danny Droppings is just not that good.
Or maybe it is because Garrett Sucks!![]()

It's 6.8 million in dead money for 2022, but saves about 5 million in 2022. The real concern was his injury clause if he continued to play limited snaps this year and got injured his 2022 salary would become guaranteed. If the team was planning to move on from him and got injured this season it would put a strain on next year's cap. In hindsight they could have saved a lot just cutting him before March this year, but until Parsons was drafted LB was a big question mark.

Just curious, How has Smith played this year?
Is it true that when the Giants beat Dallas in the last game last year in Dallas, that Garrett stopped his offensive players from lifting him up and carrying him off the field? Have you heard that too?
K

Lots of contracts have injury clausesUhmmmmmm could someone tell me why Jerry or Stevie would let that clause in the contract - thats the point of the $35 million he had guaranteed. If anything it should have been reversed - the team should have gotten "an out" if he got hurt.
Football is a rough sport, players get hurt hence why football contracts are not fully guaranteed, but they do get about half that is guaranteed - so why the other $9 mil - maybe I'm missing something.

It's just part of the negotiation. If they didn't include that protection, they'd have to increase the total money or the total guarantee.Uhmmmmmm could someone tell me why Jerry or Stevie would let that clause in the contract - thats the point of the $35 million he had guaranteed. Archer said we couldn’t have cut him this past year because of his wrist surgery.
uhm... then why the hell are you reading this thread?Jeez. Like every single article on this explains this clearly and in great detail.
