Jaylon Smith to IR; D Mac to be activated

You want move Lee after the way he has played all year and sunday specifically?
Yes.

Lee from MLB is more impactful.

Going sideline to sideline means it's harder to isolate him to one side.

It's also better from a blitz standpoint.

He has multiple holes to rush from without dictating where he is.

Other than his injuries..

the middle is his best position.

in this defense though? Its all about the under tackle and the will linebacker. The will linebacker is the playmaker spot in marinelli's scheme.

I just feel he's better in the middle.

They can move Hitchens there in Lee's old spot.

I just think we need to strong up the center of the D.

Byron Jones is playing great as is Thornton as is Malick Collins.

I would think about doing it.

Even for just 20 snaps or so

I hear you.

Problem is..

LBer has been an undermanned position for us for years..

way back to drafting Bobby Carpenter.

Its a conga line.

I really wonder if moving Lee for the end of the season to MLber might be worth it.

He was our best LB and teams can scheme away from him where he is.

I would give him some snaps to see.
Right now I'd guess we're in the nickle more snaps then any other variation of defense. This means that MLB doesn't really exist in the way I think you're wanting it to for what I'd suspect is at least 60% of our snaps. Among the other snaps I'd bet its pretty evenly broken down between base and dime. In dime we frequently go to three down linemen instead of 1 LB. So for probably somewhere upward of 75% of the snaps your point is irrelevant, as we likely see an alignment where Hitchens/Durant is off set to one side and Lee to the other. In that likely 20% or less we're in base I doubt it makes enough difference often enough to make it matter.

Understood..

but as the season goes on..

stopping the run better is primary.

Lee can help.

Running the ball is allowing the opposing offense to stay on the field and extend drives.

If that isn't stopped..we lose.

Thats how it looks to me.

We all know our defense is our Achilles.

It's not Championship capable..

playing 3 rushing and 8 in pass defense will not win us any playoffs.

We are looking 1 and done in the playoffs..

if we lose Homefield..

it will be very hard for us to do much.
