Remember there was a few games, I think it was a couple of years ago, where Dunbar was our best offensive threat? Then he got injured. I guess they haven't forgotten about that, thinking he'll get back to being quite a weapon catching passes out of the backfield.

That was last year but he got hurt in the 4th game

Yea this Jaylon thing sucks... I'm starting to lose some faith. He may never play a down of football again. Someone above said Matt Mosley thinks it's a Long shot that Jaylon plays next season. That would be a huge disappointment
If Mosley think he won't then I'm more optimistic because he is always wrong.

Where are all those message board doctors now? Man, they were all over me for laughing at
Jerry's prognosis that Jaylon would be available for the playoffs.

Dunbar needs to go, period. He has brought nothing but a few flash in the pan plays / games. I just do not get the teams love fest with him. They always have to have a player or two they cram down our throats with one and up our butts with the other. These two of later were Hayden and Dunbar. One is gone, now the other needs to be.

Morris is under contract for another year, and he can at least get some yards when he carries the ball. Dunbar will be a FA, and he will not get a contract to bring a comp pick. So release Dunbar.
McFadden will be a FA also, but at least he has a chance to bring more in a comp pick.

Smith was never going to play this year, and I still think that pick should have been used better. Most hold out hope he will be fine and be a great Ray Lewis [on the field] type LB. However, if he was drafted by another team, most would be in here saying he will never play. I am hoping for the best, but not counting on him at the same time. They could have reached for a defensive player and they could be contributing right now. Heck, that player may have tackled Beckham Sunday night, and we could have won 7-3 for all we know.

But if DMC replaces Dunbar, we are already a better team at that point.

Lets do the wishbone: Morris, Zeke, and McFadden. Anyone remember the dream backfield ? although we weren't that good at the time we implemented it back then.

3rd and short and Dunbar is in the game and the defense knows we are passing. Zeke or Darren have to be in there.for the defense to stay honest.

I'm just hoping Smith is healing. Maybe I'm being pessimistic, but the absence of concrete positive news has me thinking bad things.

By next year..he will have been out a year and a half.

Not good.

But this is how we address LBer..

with guys like McLain and Smith..

and try to coach up Hitchens and recycle Durant.

No wonder we can't stop the run nor rush the passer.

There isn't any new news on his condition. Exactly what do you want them to say?

He's being moved to IR.
A few weeks ago, Jerry came out and said he may be available for playoffs.
I called him Dr. Jones MD with a PhD in BS.
Lumpkin and his disciples didn't get the joke... told me Jerry was getting his
info from doctors, blah-blah-blah. The whole thing turned into a mess.
So, now it's official. No Jayson until next year, if ever. That's all.

Nice, he should be able to give us some nice production with fresh legs late in the season.

Can't wait to see Jaylon Smith next year.

I wouldn't just assume Smith is definitely playing next year.

I have never understood the oganization's love affair with Dunbar. Decent player, has never done a whole lot, but year after year has a role. Broaddus says Jerry loves him. I really don't know.
Jerry sees players like Sproles and want to immediately create that with cowboys and take credit.
He was trying to do the same thing in unearthing a diamond TE like Patriots Rob G. in the second round for last 6 years

Hopefully he takes some of Dunbar's snaps and not Zeke's

I suspect it is to spell Zeke some more (which would ultimately take snaps from Dunbar as well). I wonder if Zeke is a little banged up or starting to approach the infamous rookie wall (maybe Dak as well). There is no denying that the rigor of the NFL will take its toll on rookies...both physically and mentally. even if they are at the same number of games/snaps, it was never against athletes this strong and fast. I'm sure Zeke has never been hit as hard as often as he has in the NFL. It will take its toll on him. With the playoffs approaching the best approach is to limit his carriers and preserve him for the playoffs.

The fan base should feel that way.. The team has been so hush hush about it. No news is not good news in this situation imo.

I tend to agree. If his nerve was really firing, he was getting a lot of sensation, etc. back in the lower leg and he was making great progress, they'd be talking about IMO.
