I was out at The Star yesterday watching practice (8/23). Jaylon was not practicing, he was just running around in shorts and his jersey. I noticed he was not wearing his brace. He did not have his foot and ankle taped up so it was easy to see the brace was not in use.

He was able to move around without a limp at all. I saw him running around a bit with no issue. I am sure the brace is needed when he practices and plays in a game, but it was really nice to see that he can walk and move around fine without it.

If I understand the nature of his issue, running and stopping in a straight line is not the issue. The question is rather or not he can place stress in his knee when quickly changing direction at full speed. When he can do that, he's 100% ready.

Yah. Its most likely more a mental thing than a physical one at the moment. He just needs reps. Lots and lots of reps.

i agree with this. i had issues trusting my knee and ankle from just a bad sprain, even though it was healthy. Couldn't imagine trying to overcome nerves being all jacked up so kudos to him for making it this far but i think he'll be fine in the long run.....unless Dr. Chao presents some new discoveries lol

His knee is healed and no longer a part of the problem. I'm not certain how much of his foot drop is still an issue. Can't be much but without examination and testing one can only guess. Watch him move but that's not the entire picture either.

I agree his knee is healed but the amount of athletes that take a while to get back to trusting the knee is a great percentage. Look at Scandrick, he played all last year but never seemed right. This year he looks different and says he is much better. I think Jaylon just needs time just playing so he gets the confidence back.

I would start worrying if Quack Quack Chao started praising Smith.

In this case it's more about trusting the foot/ankle rather than the knee.

As an outside observer of this topic, I've come to the conclusion, without a professional opinion, that knee injuries truly take 2 years to completely heal. It just seems that the next year, guys can and do play on it, but it appears that after that initial year, the second year is when they truly let loose.

I think people are over analyzing this. The guy is cutting just fine.
I've been watching for it and haven't seen it.

Are you saying you saw him cut in this past preseason game or are you referring to the recent video of him completing drills?

I can buy a very small amt of psych issue. Not very much though.

I watched him cut in the game and only saw him overrun stuff. I did not see him get juked. That would be Nzeocha.

The only person that I have seen claim that is Broaddus and he says he sees it in practice. I don't trust him particularly not on this issue.

How many times does he need to be wrong before people stop paying attention. I don't watch Talkin Cowboys anymore now that it is him and Spagnola
