Jaylon Smith

I'm predicting he will be a below average starting linebacker. If the Cowboys dont have a solid backup plan for him, they are going to regret it.

My dream pick in the 1st round is Roquan Smith.
YES ! bring him here !

So your contention is that he is on an elite track is supported by an article praising him for finishing a season? Doesn't that really prove my point? He barely even played in the last two games.
Saying that Jaylon is on an "elite track" based on what we saw this season is loony bin type of stuff. He was really bad and any type of "elite" projection is nothing more than blind hope.
What exactly in that article signifies he’s on an “elite track?”

Hyperbole guys.. Wow.....

You guys are so poised to snap at a guy just finishing his rookie campaign after recovering from a devastating injury.

Take a breath.

Yes Jaylon

Here are you stats from "the last few weeks" since you're "back"

Wk 14: 3 tackles 2 assists 0 sacks
Wk 15: 1 tackle 0 assists 0 sacks
Wk 16: 0 tackles 1 assist 0 sacks

On this team that sure feels "elite"

Elite track

I don't believe anyone is snapping at him, we're simply taking the rational approach to his expected progression. There wasn't a single shred of evidence this season supporting the fact that he's on an elite track.

I'm taking the approach that if he improves to be a slightly below average to average starting LB next year that would be an enormous improvement and would be something to be hopeful about. To claim that he flashed brilliance this year is actually mind boggling confusion.

I Iove this dude!!!

Man... Finally we get to have a fairly healthy Jaylon going into the off-season ready to prep for a real first year.. One year removed from tentative injury return as well as being thrust into the spotlight earlier than anticipated.

This dude is going to enter 2018 beasting!!! (& I can't wait to witness it)

I'm predicting at least NFL All-Pro second team.

I hope you're right, didn't expect to see the best of him until 2018 anyway because of the seriousness of his injury......aother full off season for more time for the nerve to regenerate to 100%. hope he shows what everyone thought he would be coming out of college next year..

I look forward to it.... & then the peanut gallery will find another favorite post to whip.

Basically his rookie contract is 50% done. And has shown flashes of nothing. Not his fault he’s a great guy but he should of never been our problem to debate.
Says who? Are you an NFL scout or do you work in the line of NFL talent acquisition in some way? Much respect if you do. I'm just curious as to how you happen to know what many are still figuring out as part of the rookie evaluation process.

As much as y'all like to try and make him a 2 year player... He was drafted to play this year. Not last year. This year... &, just in case any of us weren't aware, he is finishing his rookie season.

Just a guy giving his opinion on a blog. Let me ask you this. If Dallas had the pick to redu again. Would Jaylon be the choice?

He would for me. But you're probably asking the wrong person. I have a #ClearEyeView.

And you’re “poised” to claim a guy trying to recover from nerve damage is on the “elite track.”

I want a real DC in Dallas who will cut the fat and bring in good players, than we ll know whos good and whos dreaming.

jaylon went from horrible to ehh...maybe the guy will be better next year. but these coaches piss me off. we never put players in position to succeed. we have jaylon at MLB, hes not suited for that. then we have byron at saftey. the guy is a finesse player whos suited way better for CB. no wonder these players “suck” so much...
