There was a thread that was posted shortly after yesterday’s game that erroneously quoted Tolbert saying the ref inexplicably told him to “move up,” as in closer to the LOS.

That’s bunk.

Here’s the actual quote:

Tolbert said he had checked with the down judge Sarah Thomas.

"I lined up, looked to the side and she told me to back up," Tolbert said. "I did."

So, what’s really being said here is Tolbert thought he backed up enough. He didn’t though. The ref is not obligated to line you up after giving you the courtesy heads up.

It looked off to me even watching it live and I wasn't really keying on him at the time. At the snap, I immediately looked for a flag.

He can't turn his head and look at the ball and see where its being hiked from, lol - and him and guys like him actually got in to a college, lol.

Yep, if you read the things that have come out re: Tolbert from Stephen it’s that he was “given too much,” which appears to be code for “dude is not too bright.”

Either that or one of those "the lights are too bright" for him situations. Could be one of those guys who knows what to do but makes a lot of simple mistakes when the lights are on. Several times in preseason, he would not get both feet down when making catches along the boundary. WR stuff 101.

Reminiscing about the off-season when the homers told us WR isn’t a problem because Tolbert would slide right in and perform.

So the ref told Jalen to scoot up on the line. He literally was directed to be there by an official and then they flagged him according to Dak and MM.

RIGGED

Sorry, but he was looking the wrong way. The ref doesn't have to tell him at this level where to line up. He needs to look at the ball. If he saw the ball, he'd realise that he was as offside as Luis Suarez's teeth after biting someone lol.

I guess you know more than MM because if you watch his post game interview he will tell you that every receiver on every play lines up with the official, and it "almost part of their stance."

Edited to add: LOL

I'm not claiming to know more than Jalen, but it was obvious if he looked at the ball that he was massively offsides.

The ref will tell you if you’re on the LOS as a courtesy which is what you see when the receiver looks at the sideline before the snap and usually points or gives the thumbs up.

What they won’t do is tell you “almost there, just wee bit back…”

Tolbert didn’t back up enough. That’s on him.

Yes and he didn't bother to look at the ball. He'd have known straight away that he was offside.
