Have no issue with it. It’s not like anyone that wore 9 before him was a HOF guy or anything. Let him have it if he wants it. 88 needs to be retired though.
Hard to retire numbers, especially in the 80s, but opening up the single digits to more players would help with that. I would prefer that 88 not get handed out.
Although I'm a fan of Romo, I do agree that we should only "retire" numbers of Hall of Famers. Plus, with a defensive player wanting to wear it, it didn't even make me think of Romo at first. It's kind of different when 88 keeps getting passed from receiver to receiver.
To me, it would kind of like when we've had defensive backs wear 33. I don't generally think of Dorsett when I see them, but I would if we had a running back in 33.
