Jeanty - pro day drop

MJH skipped out on his 40. Probably because he knew he’d be the first wr taken.

These kids know more than you.

Lucky for us fans yours not picking.
How can he skip the 40? My guess is his agent when knowing the projected time advised against it so he doesn’t fall to later round 1.

I think 4.6.

If your 10-yard split is elite that can compensate-think - Emitt Smith. Otherwise, Jeanty is a back that is going to take a lot of hits and be worn down after 3 years with average stats in the NFL.

No way would I pick him at 12.

4.50 flat would’ve been a great combine time for him.

The fact that pro day numbers are super inflated and he didn’t run is slightly concerning.

Unless there's an existing injury, it would ring up red flags about this 40 time speed to me as well.

did he also decline to lift weights as well ?

If NFL teams are interested in Jeanty as a Josh Jacobs ( ran 4.66 at pro day) version/lead attack... then his suspect 40 time may still not matter to them

If they wanted to envisioned a breakaway speed back ala Barkley, Gibbs, McCaffrey, Taylor, Cook, .. then maybe he's not their guy ?

Too much stock is given to the pro day. What a player has put on tape has to matter. If your highlight reel doesn't sell you then nothing will. It should tell everyone all they need to know.

I honestly don't care what his 40 time is....All I know is this guy makes that first guy miss every single time. And he's a threat to take it to the house. If I'm running the draft...I trade up to go get him. He's that special.

Wow, talking about moving the goal posts. Fans are now disregarding 40 times.
I think I need to look at other draft threads and see if they put an emphasis on 40 times of other players.

We crave a RB with break away speed to take it to the house. But with overrated Jeanty, speed doesn't count.

How did his speed help him against better competition of Penn State in the NCAA playoff game?
He will face better in the NFL.
When he was getting hit in the backfield? He didn't really get a chance to exercise his speed... You all act like Jeanty would have been better off not dragging Boise to that playoff game. God forbid a great player on an outmatched team has a 'bad' game. They'll be crucified for it and all other data points will be tossed out. Put Jeanty on PSU and what do you think happens? Hint...this should be rhetorical.

The lower competition level argument, especially related to speed, is a lazy one. These conferences aren't organized by speed. If you run a sub 4.5, you don't automatically get promoted to the SEC. Jeanty ran away from players with NFL speed.

Is he J.Gibbs? No, most players aren't. Does he run a 4.8 like one poster said? Ha!

Quit lumping people into fictional groups you've fetishized. "Ohhh, now fans don't care about 40s blah blah." No, you are taking things out of context to fit your agenda. It's weird. It makes it seem like you have some weird complex you may need to flesh out.

Most sane people understand 40 times are just another metric. The value of a 40 time may go up if a player has questionable game speed. However and again, most sane people agree, 'track' and game speed are not the same.

Is it nice to see a 40 time, sure. It's another data point. But we have 2700 yards of game film (not just the psu game) to judge his speed on. And although he's no burner, nobody that is taken seriously in the draft world questions if Jeanty has nfl speed.

wow, who pissed in your cereal this morning. Your first paragraph berating me makes the rest of your point you attempted to make, moot.
Most sane people? I am sane, have you read the entire thread about what I posted. I stand by what I said.

Oh, now fans want to move the goal posts as to what is considered sane!??!?

stand, sit, whatever. Everyone in this thread who thinks jeanty is slow or not a 1st rounder, the burden of proof is placed on you. You are the minority.

so you judge a player on ONE SINGLE GAME against one of the top teams in the country

that is so intelligent
We can only aspire to your level of intelligence.

There is a small sample of him running against legit defenses. You can ignore them if you want. But, as you so articulately pointed out , OUR opinions are meaningless (not just mine).

It is my opinion.
I did not say he was slow, nor not a 1st rounder. You are making things up to make it as if you are right. You are not.

No burden of proof is on me at all. It is an OPINION.
I don't care if I am in the minority. I was just pointing out an observation. And you don't like it, because I do not agree with the majority.

Occasionally you will have backs like Derrick Henry who posts just average 40 times
as he supposedly had a time of 4.54 at the combine.

But Henry played and performed high at top competition SEC and outside conference, at the college level ...and clearly came into his own as a legit breakaway performer at the nfl level.

Jeanty breakaway from vs the likes of San Jose state , Hawaii, and UNLV ..and now purposely skipping both nfl combine and pro day doesn't hold well for erasing doubts about his speed, imo.

Why would anyone care about a track and field exercise that doesn't relate to the football field when you can actually measure the speed on the field with pads on and while carrying the ball?

Seems pretty stupid.
