Just read an article. Seattle Seahawks WR/return man revealed that Jeff Heaths hit on him severely damaged his neck, and if someone had even pulled on his arm after the play ( trying to help him up), he would have died. That must have been some hit.

It was a scary play and I'm glad he's okay but it was also a clean hit.

Heath is one of the toughest dudes on this team.

I wish he was better in coverage. But, after seeing him hold back Hardy, constantly scrapping on ST, and drilling Brandon Jacobs when Jacobs was running over our guys for years and then shadowboxing the FG post.. I like the guy.

Some of the stigma in coverage I think comes from the Calvin Johnson game...though he's definitely not a front line guy in that area. He has a place on the team & I like him as well. Even the AP hit was solid...until he was moved off his spot & it wound up looking worse than it was.

Heath is the kinda guy that makes me think "awe, he is one of OUR Cowboys, I like him as a player"....and then I think "these types of players not being upgraded is what contributes to 4-12"

that being said, I like the guy and hope he continues to contribute

Wow that is scary stuff! Glad Lockette is ok. I think Heath gets way too much hate as well. The guy was awful in the Saints game, and will never be able to shake that 1 game. But the other times he's played in a pinch at safety he hasn't been bad. Very good ST player.

he's becoming my "bill bates" so to speak. yea, huge big shoes to fill and let's not get carried away - but the kid is just flat out balling every chance he gets.

Heath isn't a bad backup Safety at all, imo. He's a smart, scrappy player, who just isn't great in coverage. He is a very good STer, and every team needs that. Reminds me of when we had Keith Davis for awhile.

Heath's the kind of guy that doesn't (and shouldn't) get a ton of reps on defense, but man he's the RKG for all the dirty work - special teams, etc.

I used to blast the kid, but I like him. That hit on Ricardo Lockette was legal and good football. And the flattening of Brandon Jacobs was just amazing.

He is certainly not the weakest link as far as our DB core goes. That honor goes to Wilcox and McCray. When those two clowns are cut (McCray for the 3rd or is it the 4th time?), then Heath can start sweating for a spot on the 53. Until then, he's a good, flexible and cheap DB that adds depth to our roster. As an added bonus, he's durable and can lay the wood better than Wilcox. Dude is, as Garrett would put it, a "real football player".

I mean Heath should be starting next to Jones or Wilcox/Mcray and sometimes even Church. The guy got destroyed against the Saints and Calvin Johnson, but Johnson abuses everyone.

McCray is a FA. And Wilcox started over Heath, so there is something more to his play than Heath.
As someone posted, when you think of Heath, there are more bad plays than good plays, if you remove ST's plays.

I think your wording on the title could be a bit different. Seems a bit harsh.

I don't think it's a stigma, he's not a very good football player, that doesn't mean he's not a tough SOB. The NFL has plenty of role players.
