I thought he looked good tonight except for the TD. He was expecting double coverage deep but he has to hit the receiver to jam him first.

Exactly, he has to take a few seconds off of that route.

I thought Jenkins played really well. I seen him win a few battles out there and seem to be right there with his guy everytime.
Yes he needed to hit that receiver off the line, but that is easily correctable and that is what preseason is for.

Clearly Jenkins had a few miscues but the Titans were not able to do much overall. Did the Titans spread out much last night and attack our secondary? I try not to jump to too many conclusions (good or bad) about pre-season games so I think we have reason to be hopeful but that's about it. A nagging injury is a real concern at this point because we do not have enough depth back there if we lose somebody.

The one comment made by Troy Aikman (the Buck-Aikman team was in mid-season irritating form) that resonated with me was that Tennessee has been unable to run the ball effectively so far this pre-season. That has to be a concern for them.

I'd say that's how things are done everywhere when it comes to 1st round draft picks that have a full season and 2 training camps under their belts.

They are expected to be impact players and not make mental mistakes.

you being serious?

Just because the current state of affairs with the salary cap and free agency doing its thing, does not mean that players get better faster to compensate, it only means young guys play on the field earlier and play through their mistakes as they grow to become great.
Its part of the game now.

As far as the 1st rounder part of your comment, yeah how did we get stuck with the only first rounder to make mental mistakes in a game?

Jenkins play well last night, and he did nothing that cannot be seen on film and corrected easily.

It could be him prepping the fans as a reason to jump out of the way when he sees Ahmad Bradshaw coming his way in week one against Tampa.

Bradshaw plays for the Giants, Ward plays for the Bucs

he said he had bone spurs two weeks ago, maybe they should have cleaned it out then.

My wife has bone spurs (on her feet, in her case). It's the kind of thing where you hope they are absorbed, and surgery can make things worse.

QFT: This is EXACTLY THE WAY IT WENT DOWN LAST NIGHT. He is pretty mediocre and as JFE reported this morning, our secondary is shaky right now.

"Wow, I figured this board would be all over Jenkin's performance.

He looked completely lost on the TD pass when he stayed in the short zone to cover...no one?

He broke up the bomb only because it was severely under thrown. He did show his recovery speed on that play but who knows if he could of made up the ground if he was facing a competent QB/WR combination instead of Vince Young and whoever.

For all the talk about this guy "learning his lessons" from last year, I expected to see more polish.

He still looks like a guy who is convinced he has Deon Sander'ish athlete ability and can get by on that" (bingo...............................)

It's funny cause if he jams up that receiver, an Hamlin is able to get over the top in time that way, and either the play is broken up, picked, or Collins went elsewhere I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people here would say he had a great night.

But he screwed up, badly I'll agree, one time and all the sudden he struggled and had a bad night. Despite the fact that they tried to throw deep on him 3 times and he allowed 0 catches on those three plays and allowed all of 15 yards on 2 completions that were directly on him outside of that.

1 play is all it takes around here for people to go from a guy having a good/great night to a bad/struggling night.

He should have jam him and and trail until he was threaten in the flats. Overall Jenkins plain good and anyone that says otherwise are full of IT.

Let the debate continue: but here's hoping I'm wrong: we need this kid at top form and efficiency to compete in a brutally tough division. I will give him one thing: he looks much better this season than last: by leaps and bounds. And he'll continue to get better, especially if those bone spurs clear up.

The WR wasn't 10 yards out in front and waitin on a pass for 3 minutes.

Tonight Britt was. The pass from Young was up in the air for 12 minutes. If it was on a rope for 67 yards it would have been money.

And why are we supposed to bow down to Jenkins and give him all kinds of credit cause you graded on a curve and took out the play where he screwed up and gave up a TD?

I just don't get it.

Then you want us to give him credit for a play where it's obvious he got beat and if the QB makes a good throw it's another TD.

It's insanity. People give him some credit and you want us to put him in the Hall of Fame.

What happens if he plays a game where he doesn't give up any TD's on this curve you grade with, do we make him president?

a Ton of "What If's"...it didnt happen ok? What If's dont get championships

oh what if Romo didnt fumble the playoff snap...no it happened...he learned, just like Jenkins will

I thought he looked great.

I guess Jenkins is going to join Newman's club.

By the way, Newman looked great, too.

Collins wanted to go deep on him one time, but when he looked over there, Newman had his guy locked down.

Jenkins can play through the bone spur. He looked dang good tonight.

Perhaps, if Henry and Pacidiot didn't take his snaps away last year, he would have been perfect.

It would help if the special teams would quit giving them the ball on our 30.

What BS, Jenkins looked great.......NOT. he looked Ok, but he has another excuse for not EARNING the JOB, I am injured, I have bone spurs,

Jenkins is not as physical player, just a coverage guy at best.

Looked pretty physical on a couple of those hits/tackles he made to me. Not sure what you saw.

That play was just as much Hamlin's fault as it was Jenkins' fault.

Man...wide ranging opinions concerning Jenks...I guess he still has that bullseye on his back from the NYG's game last season! I don't see what all the hand-wringing is about concerning 21 & 32...the difference will be minimal in terms of their playing time, IMO. For the record, I'm in the camp that thinks MJ played well last night and I see no reason to get bent outta shape that he's starting over Scan... they should both be effective in their roles. They're both young and will make some mistakes, as will T-New, Hamlin, & everyone else in the secondary...it happens and as long as it's not consistent there shouldn't be too much female-dogging about it!

I thought Jenkins looked good last night except for the blown coverage on the TD pass. All corners give up completions. He still needs to work on his zone coverages. I can tell playing in zone coverage is still new to him.

If he is injured and it hurts the team then Scandrick should start. Draft position doesn't matter. The better player should be on the field.
