Jenkins

I did not means to imply that Newman was all that. His decline has been evident, and the youngsters make him look better than he is.

And I agree with you: the secondary was not as bad as I expected it to be. It bent -- a lot -- and in the end broke down. But the secondary in that game was not as bad as in my nightmares.

However, our praise of Jenkins seems a bit over the top. Sort of like commending someone for showing up for work and doing the occasional good move.

I think people including the coaches commended him because he kept fighting even as he suffered injuries in the game.

When Jenkins and Scandrick were in the Jets were not doing much with the WR they had to rely on backs when Jenkins left and then Scandrick went down they did what most teams would do and that is go after the 4th and 5th CB on the roster.

I agree. 1 play does not define a player. I do agree Jenkins may be the type you have to constantly pushed but as far as talent the guy is good

Yep. That is what I didn't like about Wade. Every player doesn't respond to kid gloves. I don't think Rob will have that problem.

Yes, a fighter. He obviously has taken Coach Valvoline's message to heart: "Don't ever give up unless it is your schoolwork."

But let us not elevate Jenkins to the pantheon of the greats. Or even as a good cover. We are too easily enamored by those who show heart, if not talent. Brooking, too, shows heart. But we know what his skill level is.

I think the guy is a good CB, I find it funny people don't want to be quick to call a guy good but you sure as hell call them a bust very quickly.

Jenkins showed in 09 what he can do, the guy shut Jackson down in both Cowboys games vs Philly not too bad in my book.

I'm not putting him in the HOF but again you tell people not to jump on his wagon to quick? how about not jumping on his back so quick

How about you not saying I called him a bust, big guy?

I said he wasn't great and wasn't good. After good comes journeyman or poor. Then bust.

As far as your trip down mammary lane against the Eagles, please, enjoy that, because that was then and this is now.
If you cannot digest what I said (don't be too quick to elevate him; he's got to show a lot more and more consistency until he rises from journeyman-average status), tough Schlitz!
And gee, I am so glad you are not putting him in the HOF, because his statue/stature is not ready yet, though the work continues on his speech(by you).

Tyron's footwork still needs improvement, but he's an animal. Once he gets his footwork down it's a wrap for opposing defenders.

Even tough we are entering week 2, hope jenkins can return to form from cpl yrs ago! we need our DB's to shut it down!

Jenkins can ball, he's tougher than people thought... If him and Scandrick were in the game, I don't think Burriss would have scored.

It was funny seeing folks call him wimp and all types of names in the game-day thread because a 6'6 receiver blindsided him, almost took his head off. lol

Very funny.

I have been bummed out since Sunday night and haven't felt much like visiting here, but there were some good signs.

I imagine it has been said elsewhere in the forum, but I think Jenkins went a long way towards redeeming himself for his poor performance last year. He played tough and showed some heart. I am cautiously optimistic about him this year. Hopefully he continues to provide this kind of effort.

Sean Lee! 'Nuff said.

We went into NY and played a potential SB team and should have beat them, even though we were serious underdogs.

O Line held up for the most part. Tyron played well, Free was great.

And even goose Gosselin, on norm Hitzges on the Ticket this morning, even had good words to say about this game, and how they played. The entire team, not just the OL.....man i thought the world was ending....I looked outside to the sky.Didn't see any signs of armegeddon....

Jenkins coming back from that blind side hit to pick up Plaxico and dump him on his stupid head was my favorite moment of the game.

Dez's catches and balling with Revis was good, Austin wrestling the ball away from Cromartie was better, Jenkins smackdown on Plax was the best.

I'm still wary of Jenkins but I'm optimistic. We need this kid to play well.

Somebody have that clip handy? Would love to see it.

Props to Jenkins !
U mad bro ?

I don't remember specific plays often, but I do recall playing the Eagles I think when Jenkins put a big hit on a WR only to be outdone by an even bigger hit a few plays later by Newman. These two when healthy are a formidable pair, you can believe it...

The Jets game was the most impressed I've been with Jenkins since he's been a Cowboy. Not only did he make Plax a ghost when he was lineup up on him, but he showed toughness I've never seen him diplay in the past. If that was in past years no way he comes back into the game after getting nicked up the several times he did.

Don't know what to make of him yet, I hoped he improved during the off season. Unfortunately he wasn't challenged as much because the other corners were weak, we'll see what happens when Newman is back, until then I don't expect him to get challenged at all.

I loved his effort, fighting through injuries and putting a really good open field tackle on Plax after coming back in the game from injury.

His effort Sunday went a long way toward erasing the memory of a few ole tackles last year... he played with heart, and that's all we can ask of any of them...

You are not the only one. All too many times our fans use one, two, or several plays to define a young player's career. Snap judgments are stupid, no matter the player.

They are stupid, but they're inevitable when a player seems to go out of his way to avoid contact, as Jenkins did on one or two occasions last year...

A football player who doesn't like to hit just isn't worth much... but for some reason, I never thought that was the case, even as he played the matador...
