Last year towards the end of the year Jerry was going on and on about how great Terry looked out on the practice field and how he was going to be an impact in the playoffs. He specifically called him "the quickest player on the field".

Then after the draft, Jerry defended his choice not to draft a WR by stating that he thought Terry Glenn was going to be a real impact this season, and that no WR in the draft provided as good of an opportunity to make an impact in 2008 as Terry Glenn did.

If Terry's knee was really so shot all along that he wasn't even worth a camp invite, Jerry has been doing a lot of boldfaced lying to his loyal fans and customers.

Not necessarily. He could have been genuinely anticipating a good year for Glenn without fully understanding the medical unlikely-to-return possibilities. Jones has many irons in the fire. He can't always be on top of everything, but he is a salesman and can't keep himself from talking when he shouldn't without having all the facts.

Basically, Jerry screwed Glenn.
If that is true, Glenn is probably more responsible than Jones. Glenn should have signed the waiver and started practicing immediately. Waiting weeks and weeks until camp began only forced Jones' hand.

Jones just cant win with you people no matter what he does

You bash him for this move, blast him for that move

did any of you actually LISTEN or READ about what was going on with this? Jones supposedly wanted to keep him, but was being advised by other team officials to let Glenn go. First you say Jones makes bad decisions, then you bash him for listening to others.

Holy freaking crap people

David

Yeah your right, Jerry WANTED Glenn here.

Glenn took way too long to sign that contract.

Alot of Asst. coaches and Assoc. close to Jerry didn't feel they need to keep Glenn.

Glenn didn't speak to any team doctors or trainers thru most of the offseason (That's a RED FLAG to me)

They just didn't trust that Glenn's knee would last thru Training camp.
(I don't think Glenn did either)

You just got to ask yourself why did Glenn wait so long to agree with the deal?

JFE needs to lay off of Wade.

The season just started for crying out loud.

As someone with no cartiledge left in one of their knees, I would be shocked if Glenn ever plays more than 3-4 games in a row ever again. Bone on bone is no joke. You can job 5 miles and feel great. A week later you can hoop it up for 3 hours and feel great. Then in week3, you jog 4 miles, and your knee is sore, swollen, stiff, "clicky", and you can barely walk up the steps. This is the reality. All the weight lifting and what not is nothing like sprinting and changing direction week-in-week-out. Especially in your mid30s.

He should have had the microfracture surgery.

what a terrible owner...why couldnt we be blessed and have someone as keen as the Brown's or Bidwell's

David

I'm not saying anything is "his fault" ... just saying he's a liar. If you don't mind being lied to, good for you.

I agree.

Who is more loyal and important to the organization and has its best interests at heart? Certainly not Terry Glenn.

The Cowboys will be around before and after people like Terry Glenn.

Don't shed a tear for him. He got paid last year when most players would have been walking the streets. It's not a joke or exaggeration, it is fact.

Sometimes I honestly think some fans care more about the players than the organization. NOTHING is more important than the organization. I don't understand how an owner like Jones who is loyal beyond reproach can be criticized here for not bending over backwards and allowing a player in Glenn's situation to dictate the circumstances.

I am proud of the way Mister Jones handled this. Class and intelligence the entire way.

I also agree with this.

Defending Jerry by saying there are worse GMs and owners is just a very weak defense. He used Glenn's name to take the pressure off of him when he needed to, now look what happened.

Noway around it, he did lie to cover his ***. I'm not upset about it, but its the truth.

Poor Terry Glen... Poor Terry Glen...

Lets put this in proper perspective. He sat on the bench (or his couch) all of last season and collected 5 million dollars. Lets put that in term us normal people can understand. A good job pays 50k per year. I would need to work for 100 years to make what he made last year doing nothing...... Poor Terry Glen..... Poor Terry Glen.....

Excuse me while i call and lie to my credit card company and blame them for not sending me a statement so they will waive my late fee and i can make my mortgage payment. I dont want to get one of those forclosure notices my neighbors have received.

Poor Terry Glen.. didnt want to risk getting hurt and only making 750k this year.
After all i only have to work for 15 years to make what he would have made doing nothing again.......

Jerry was probably trying to hide the facts about Glenn due to him wanting to possibly make some sort of trade in the off season. Glenn's condition would obviously have an effect on the possible trade negotiations.

Also factor in the quality of WRs in this draft, Jerry could of felt that there was no real options there either.

His lying/deceiving I think was more for the other GMs, not so much, us the fans.

Why would Jerry purposely bite the hand that feeds him - the fans.

The OTAs and training camp are providing Jerry (the staff) a chance to look at the young WRs.

Why chance Glenn getting hurt. Let him set on the back burner and see how things go in camp. They could still bring him back after the season starts on a game to game basis if no one else picks Glenn up or the young WRs don't show up.

Your post is dead on point.. I wouldn't be suprised if we resigned TG at some point during TC. We need to let these young cats play and show their stuff. TG isn't going anywhere.

Its pretty well known that they were also trying to work out a trade for Roy Williams, Boldin or Chad Johnson...had he said all along that Glenn was washed up and couldnt play, it hurts the bargaining leverage a little...the more desperate a team knows you are, the more they can ask for (and expect to get)

and then there the fact that Jones absolutely loves Glenn, he was obviously VERY hopeful that Glenn would recover and be able to play

Wow. I never thought I would agree with JFE, but I don't like the way Glenn was treated either. He was ready to sign, then Jerry let him go? Basically, Jerry screwed Glenn. I know it's business, but I don't like it.

As far as the Boldin rumor, hmmmmmmm.

jerrys fault is usually to remain too loyal. i don't think he has it in him to "screw" anyone over. it's a business move, pure and simple.

Terry Glenn doesn't matter, people.

Think of him like this; Imagine he was on another team and he was the guy Jerry was interested in and eyeing up for a possible acquisition. Now, with his age, his knee AND his history of cancerism to a team....How many actually want him?

I personally think the answer is easy, and we've been through it about a half-dozen times this off-season already with other aging has-beens whose names have come up. And Terry Glenn is less a commodity then half of them, too boot.

Way I see it. Whoever we draft next year won't start, no where left for any young guys. We are already too deep everywhere but WR.

My resolution, go ahead and package next years first pick and Ellis for Williams or Boldin.

Get rid of dead weight, and a pick that would have already been spent on WR.

Just to bum everyone out.

Just saw this on the nfldraftcountdown boards. Guy says he saw Drew Rosenhaus and Eagles camp.

At Eagles training camp. Walked up about ten feet away from me and was watching the team warm up. He is sort of taller and skinnier than i had imagined. He's an alright guy, I could tell he wanted to be left alone so I really only said one sentence to him. One guy asked him what he was doing there and not in Cincy, but he came back with his answer, which I think was a joke. He said he was heading straight for there after he left the Eagles camp. I asked him how long until Anquan Boldin is an Eagle. He said, "Where'd you hear that from?" Then he was joking again (at least I think) when he said, "Keep your eyes open". Was on his phone quite a bit, understandably, but it seemed he just wanted to watch the players. Didn't seem arogant like some people might think.

It has been interesting to see how many different versions there have been to the receiver story this offseason.

Apparently Dr. Romo's diagnosis was off-base as well when he told everyone how Glenn was going to 'surprise folks this year'.

Sorry, but I'm not surprised.
