@dustydu: @BryanBroaddus would you take Jernigan or Clinton-Dix at 16?” They most likely would take neither what I am hearing.

Seems like Broaddus is hearing that we're not pegging either of these guys as worthy of #16. No surprise really, but I wonder if his info goes beyond what Jerry and Stephen have said. Stephen said 1T don't require high picks and Jerry said we "like where we're at" at S with the young guys.

Reading from what Jerry and Stephen have combined to say...

- No CB, S, 1T, TE, SAM, RB

He specifically left the door open for interior OL/DL (although he mentioned the draft is deep there, so may not have to do it in the 1st), WR, and WILL/MIKE.

This basically suggests: Donald, Martin, Mosely, WR (Evans?). Didn't specifically address DE either way, so maybe an Ealy sneaks into the convo, but seems like a dark-horse at this point.

BB is knowledgeable about the draft but Mickey is the guy to ask; he knows Jerry's mind. ;)

There are plenty of safeties in the 2nd-4th that make HaHa pretty much irrelevant in my opinion. Give me Ward or Brooks over Pryor and Haha any day.

I wouldn't be surprised if they give Wilcox a shot. I think its a mistake, but I do believe they think that he is good enough

I think the team is looking at DT OT and LB and trade down if WR available. Don't think they want a WR, but then again, Dez contract is up soon

It is the off-season. Teams say lots of things they do not mean.
I wouldn't put much stock in Broaddus' guesses based largely on what they are saying.

Dix fairly poor measurables probably drop him a bit below 16.
Jernigan is a big guy with great tape... doubt he drops much tho he MAY fall below Donald.

I am telling you now zack martin will be the pick

I'm starting to think so too. At least that it will be between Donald and Martin. Broaddus kept on bringing up Wilcox last year and the Cowboys went after the kid. This year, he's talked a lot about OL and Martin in-particular. Add to that what Jerry has been saying as far as not feeling like it has to be a defensive player, and it's starting to paint a pretty interesting picture.

You shouldn't believe anything teams say about the draft at this time.

Hard to imagine they'd totally eliminate those 2 from the draft board when we have huge needs at those positions

To be fair, I don't think BB is saying that they are completely off the Cowboys' board.

Can Martin play center? if he can then he has tremendous value to the team.

I had read or heard somewhere that he could potentially play center as well. I believe I heard he could play 4 of the spots on OL, but could be all-pro at guard.

I'd agree if we were talking about noise coming from another team's camp. This team (and Jerry/Stephen in particular) generally does give useable clues. We don't put up a great poker face.

Nope, he was clearly saying that we probably don't like them enough to use the 16th pick on them. That's a huge departure from them not being on the board at all.

I still don't think that's going to be the pick, only because I think if things were somewhat equal, we'd go away from OL. We've spent 2 first rounders on OL in the last 3 drafts.

I do think he's a legit consideration though, and will end up on the "short list" of 3 or 4 guys we feel could be the pick as we head into that night. I'd be perfectly fine with it. As other posts have mentioned, he can be an All-Pro OG and probably bump out to RT when Free is done here as well. Great value pick and will better protect Romo and/or whoever the next QB is.

Martin remind anyone else of DeCastro from a couple years back that we all salivated over?

Not knocking Martin as a possible pick, but I think the team's probably pretty comfortable with Mack as a backup C option if we add another player to the RT/OG rotation somewhere in this draft.

That's what I think. In my interpretation (hopefully I'm wrong), they believe that Church is a strong asset, and then they believe it's just a proces (they are willing to go through) to get one of their young free safeties up to standard. I think they really like Wilcox (or at least the FS group as a whole).

The way I see it, they'll ignore safety in this draft and free agency.

If the value is there, I'm drafting FS in round one or two.

"I gladly used those two. I don’t know that I’ve got confidence in using any more. This is an either-or proposition, and if you use your resources one place, you don’t have them to go another place." - Jerry Jones

That's Jerry on talking about taking another o-lineman high in the draft. And I think he kinda has a point....unless Lewan somehow falls to us I don't see an overwhelming value to take another lineman in the 1st. I agree that Jerry probably isn't thinking d line and d line only like a lot of us think, but I feel pretty strongly that he isn't going o-line. And as someone else said, we can easily add a good young piece in the 3rd or 4th to the G/T rotation and be pretty set. Give me 1 of Thomas, Bitonio, Juwan James, Dozier, Watt, Steen, or Turner in the middle rounds and I will feel pretty good. It would definitely be a big mistake to ignore it all together though

He's been very contradictory on this (as well as just about everything else), I've seen articles where he said not to discount an offensive lineman being the pick. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't be surprised and I think Broaddus knows something about the guys on the staff liking Martin or potentially another o-line player.

Personally, I feel this draft is a pretty deep one for o-line, so I wouldn't rush into taking one in the 1st.

I learned a long time ago not to set my heart on a particular player, because Jerry Jones' idea of what the team needs and the fan of idea of what the team needs are often very contradictory - just look at last year when they didn't draft a single DL player but had no qualms about taking yet another TE.
