martin has never played guard and he is a bit light, that doesn't mean he can't do it but I am a bit wary.

Dix not a difference maker. Jernigan short armed and not hugely productive at fsu. So its all good.

Yeah I don't get the high praise for Martin. I don't see him as any better of a guard prospect than Sua-Filo, Yankey, or even Brandon Thomas. Unless a team views him as a LT I have no idea why he'd be a top 20 prospect in this incredibly deep class.

I really don't want Martin, but it would be hard to hate the pick, epecially if the DLinemen aren't there at 16.

He could start day one, and be an upgrade, over both mack and free, imo.
I just have a feling right now, and it will change ten times before drsft day.

Agreed. I think he'd project as an immediate upgrade at either OG position and probably RT as well. Plus he'd be our RT for sure when Free's gone. He puts Bern or Leary on the bench, bolstering our depth and is a much, much better contingency plan at OT if a starter goes down.than Parnell or Weems would be. A total value pick that helps insure Romo (our most valuable asset) even more.

I realize OL is deep in this draft, but let's be honest... we can play that game all day. It's just a deep draft in general. We can talk ourselves out of making almost any pick on the strength of that rationale.

I wont be mad if we pick Martin at 16 but i feel we would be better served trading down into the 20s,he may still be there and we can have an extra 3rd rd pick.

I agree, but sometimes the phone doesn't ring and you need to make a pick.

Not disagreeing on that. I just think you could say the same thing for 3 or 4 other guys who aren't top 20 picks.

There are plenty of safeties in the 2nd-4th that make HaHa pretty much irrelevant in my opinion. Give me Ward or Brooks over Pryor and Haha any day.

Ed Reynolds or Terrance Brooks?

Ehh I don't think Reynolds is the type of guy we need. I don't see him being the rangey CF type who can cover 1 on 1 as well. At least that's the type of FS I would want. Guys like Brooks, Ward, maybe Exum and possibly even Joyner even though he's small.

We do not need a safety. We have Matt Johnson. Ok, I had to try.

I wouldn't be surprised if they give Wilcox a shot. I think its a mistake, but I do believe they think that he is good enough

I think the team is looking at DT OT and LB and trade down if WR available. Don't think they want a WR, but then again, Dez contract is up soon

Want no part of Jernigan, and I believe they feel Dix/ Pryor are not special enough to grab at 16. They are not Earl Thomas or Eric Berry type players.

Its looking lilke Donald or Martin in the early going. Would Taylor Lewan be a bad pick if he's there?

Berry was a 5th pick, Thomas a 14 but only because he was in the same class with Berry.

Dix isn't either guy but he is arguably the best centerfielder type since.
Dix doesn't have elite measurables so he should fall a bit but his tape and drill work insure he is a top 25 player.
His instincts and very good and that is huge for a free safety.
He isn't a blow up hitter but he tackles with great technique.
And he is one of the few college safeties to play any cover 1 or cover 0.

I'd rather have Donald at 16 but Dix would be on my shortlist.
I'd certainly have him over Martin.

Really great points. People are so down on Clinton-Dix because they correctly determine that he isn't as good as Earl Thomas. But that doesn't mean he isn't very good in his own right and could bring a positive impact to the D. I'm not saying he's my top choice or anything, but he's a better player than what people give him credit for.

funny not many were singing the praises of Earl Thomas when he was in the draft. I recall from here one he was a longhorn and Dallas needed to stay away from Texas players which always makes me laugh and 2 he was not a good tackler. Now I doubt you will find many here willing to stand up and say they were the ones who felt that way back then.
