Jerry and his “quarterback friendly offense” quotes over the years don’t help

If it doesn’t help it hurts. Every competitive advantage possible should be taken advantage of and anything that doesn’t help should be avoided

Jerry talking is one. It undermines the coaches for just one reason.
We don't even know who the GM is of most teams. The media is talking mostly to the coaches and players as it should be.

Seeing all the headlines this week with Jerry once again talking (when he shouldn’t of course) about the new “Dak friendly offense” made me look back on how often he has said almost the same thing over the years.

Before I say anything else, let me make clear I’m not anti-Dak at all. He’s definitely good enough to win with. And I want this “new” offense to succeed mightily. But JJ talking about it for hype doesn’t help this team at all.

And…how many times is Jerry going to use the term “______ friendly offense”? Let us count the times.
My point is this: Like all Cowboys fans, I want to win and win now. I want this offense to be prolific. There’s a decent chance it will. But the last thing this team, this QB and this culture needs is a bunch of hype from the owner/GM who oversells and under-delivers every year. Wouldn’t it be nice for once to undersell and over-deliver?

Just my wishful opinion. I expect this team to do well this year- in spite of the 80 year old playing football big shot.
I dont care about his quotes. Its his reasoning behind the quote that makes sense or it doesnt.

Last year: lamb, Injured Gallup, Brown at WR, Tyron Smith injured, Connor McGovern at guard. Then throw in the more complicated option routes and decisions and different WR's Dak wasnt on the same page with, Zeke the featured back

This year: Gallup fully healthy with an offseason, Cooks, Tolbert coming around, Tyron Smith healthy, Tyler 2nd year now playing guard, new offense with MM designed with some shorter passes and better receivers, Pollard as the featured back.

Doesnt matter who the QB was last year, those were much tougher conditions. What Dak has this year is much much better. So if Jerry wants to call that more Dak friendly or QB friendly then I completely agree with him. Dak has much more to work with, a better offense, better RB and a better healthy Oline.

Only issue for me is what happens when Tyron goes down. To me, this is where Jerry fell short. And we all know Tyron is going down. Just a matter of when.

Jerry does not know how to use the term ... The Coaches will work to the players strengths, and create the best situations for them to be in ...

So it is more simple for him to say XYZ Friendly.

This will not be that last time he uses one of his stupid phrases.
Compared to last year, this version of the offense surrounding Dak is much more QB friendly. From the scheme to the players.

Stupid phrase or not.

You want a Dak friendly offense?
Put in the 2016 tape, it's the ONLY offense for Dak.
Mostly correct. A QB friendly offense is exactly what Hurts has in Philly. A Great Oline, a great run game, good scheme, and great weapons in the passing game.

Now Dak doesnt have all that here in Dallas, but some of those aspects are much better then they were last year in Dallas.

In 2016 Dak had a great Oline and, great run game, and good weapons.

It doesn't help but it also doesn't matter. Fans just like to whine.
I do not agree ...... It invites extra criticism and questions of talent against the players he says that about ...... It is an unnecessary distraction to said player.

Romo and now Dak has to answer the stupid questions about what that means.

All because Jerry puts his desire to be the headline before the team.

Criticism that comes from fans who make up problems.

Too bad they did not have the defense they have now. So if they can get back to that type of offense.
Good things will happen.

Yep, that was the missing piece. Not sure they even win with Garrett as the coach, however.

That's the beauty of it.
Moving Dak around makes life easier on the OL, creates time, separation, and better vision for Dak. Don't even get me started on cut back lanes for Pollard and Deuce!

The minute Linehan put Dak in the pocket, little warts began to show.

If Prescott felt Moore's offense wasn't friendly to him, he never showed it. They were near the top in stats.

Booger uses buzz words and often misuses them to embarrasses himself seeking that "glorious" 4 ring.

One thing you have to establish about this old fool from the beginning is that he just talks. His overuse of the uhs and ums is to hold the floor and not get interrupted.

At some point the Dallas Cowboys stopped being a NFL franchise to him and became a conduit to celebrity status for a gargantuan ego and that is why he will never relinquish control as long as he can talk.

On his wedding night, he sat on the edge of the bed and told his bride how great it was going to be for so long he had to wake her to consummate the marriage. Ok, yeah, I made that up.

I understand what you are saying Mac, but I have heard reporters asking them about it.

My only point is it's unnecessary for Jerry to put extra stuff in their lap so he can get a soundbite
And they ask about it because fans care, and it generates clicks, not because it's meaningful.

The last time QB friendly offense came up was prior to the 2009 season. It led to the most passing yards Romo had up to that point. It also led to the fewest INT‘s he had up to that point and his highest passer rating. The Cowboys ended up winning their first playoff game in 13 years that season. If this QB friendly offense can have the same effect for Dak that it did for Romo this could end up being a real good season for him and the team.

Jerry is the main reason we keep falling short. It's the environment he creates. This team has to try to win in-spite of Jerry and that's hard to do. We're going to move on from Dak eventually but our problems are still going to be there.
I think winning our last sb was a blessing and a curse,we won in spite of the cluster f that was Barry Switzer and it gave Jerry false hope that he could win without jimmy, knowing damn well we won because of the traits jimmy instilled into the remaining core of his team, Barry and Jerry proclaimed "we did it our way baby"..his way hasn't done **** in 28yrs.

Jerry being Jerry, any fan that knows his history, knows to take it with a grain of salt. It doesn't bother me, I know he's full of himself. It is what it is.
