I think Garrett handled the question about Jerry's post game locker room comments beautifully. However, am I the only one who found Jerry's comments disturbing? And I don't think you have to line up as a Garrett supporter or hater to discuss this one. Is it appropriate for an owner to question his head coach, out loud (so to speak), in the locker room, in GAME 5 OF HIS FIRST SEASON?

I just found it counterproductive. I love Jerry's passion, but I hate his judgment when it comes to this kind of stuff. I thought it was very poor judgment.

If you think Garrett played it wrong, then (Jerry) get into his ear on the plane ride or in your office back home, but you don't do it in the press, and you don't do it in an environment that the team can pick up on.

Was how Garrett went down without a fight. I liked this comment and pretty much sums up how I feel:

Devin McCourtry of Fox Sports..

It’s hard not to draw a contrast between the legions of coaches who tighten up when the game is on the line, as Garrett did on Sunday, and the Johnsons and Belichicks of the world, who aren’t afraid of big risks and theconsequences that follow when they don’t result in the desired outcome.

My advice to Garrett is to get a lot bolder in the very near future, especially as it relates to trusting his quarterback. He can still have a successful season. The Cowboys are only a game-and-a-half behind the Giants in the NFC East, and they’ve got a much stronger team than people realize, especially when Bryant and Austin are healthy.

I'm not asking whether you AGREED with Jones. I'm asking whether you think it is appropriate for an owner to do what he did to Garrett in that interview?

That's not Garrett's MO. He isn't going to get into a war of words against the franchise's owner, particularly words that were misinterpreted as later found out.

I agree casmith.... I'm asking, though, should Jones have even gone "there" in such a public fashion?

Let me be clear (I don't want to be misinterpreted)... I KNOW Jerry supports Garrett. I KNOW Jerry is loyal (sometimes to a fault)... I KNOW he was just coming off the emotional let down of that loss. But shouldn't he just take that up with Garrett in private?

I say yes.

.

I have have a problem with Jerry's judgment also. Jerry's first bad judgment was hiring Garrett as the Dallas Cowboys head coach. A guy who had questionable play calls as a OC and got rewarded as a head coach.

I think Garrett Monday - Saturday is a good coach. But on Sunday. During the game he is the worst game day coach in the NFL. He makes the wrong calls all the time. Is always out coached. When we win its because of the talent we have and less to do with coaching. That's why we win close games against teams we should be winning big.

I cant stand Andy Reid but Vick throws 4 ints. Reid takes all the blame for the losing the game. Romo has a bad game and Garrett throws him under the bus.

Everyone knows at the end of the NE game we should have tried to get first downs and beat them when we had the ball. Instead Garrett says you run the ball and punt and let your D get a stop. Basically saying it was Ryan's fault we lost because his D didnt stop Brady at the end of the game. He takes no responsibility and throws the blame on anyone else but himself. It wont be long before the team turns on him.

Look, I know the hate Garrett people loved it on a personal level. I'm asking you to put down your pitchforks for JUUUUUUUST a moment, and TRY to be objective. It is a philosophical question, not a personal one.

Do you think it is appropriate for an owner.. if it helps you.. ANY owner... to question the approach that a first year head coach took, in play calling, to end the 5th game of the regular season, and to do so IN THE PRESS? And in the locker room?

Yes its his team, he can do whatever he wants, if the coach does not like it, then he can quit. We can all sit here and cry and whine about JJ but its his team, his money and nothing we or anyone else says will change 1 thing about that man.

So accept it or dont watch anymore. I know we all at times want to strangle the man but find me an owner with more love for his team? does not make him right or wrong but its just the way it is.

sigh... I'll try one more time. OF COURSE it is his team. Do you think the whole world is not aware of this? And when did I ever say I was going somewhere or not watching them?

I'm simply asking. Do you think IT IS GOOD FOR HIS FOOTBALL TEAM.

It is a right vs. wrong question, not a "does he have the right to do it" question.

IS IT THE RIGHT THING FOR AN OWNER TO DO FOR A FOOTBALL ORGANIZATION?

if you dont like what JJ said, go find another team to root for
JJ is the GM and the owner of the team and he has the right to say what he wants

isnt that what people like you always say when others question what JJ does or says?

well, what goes around comes around buddy ;)

what i want to know is how did yahoo find out what jerry was saying in his suite? did somebody inside the suite leak the info or was there a reporter up there?

That is a GREAT question. I have no idea either. And what he says in that suite is clearly an owner's prerogative. We all sit on our couch and talk out loud to the game too. And I felt just like Jerry did at the time. It was the locker room interview that I wish he would have refrained from.

It is not appropriate for the owner or general manager to publicly criticize his team, just as it would be inappropriate for any player or coach to likewise do. It is counterproductive of franchise image and infringes on coach/players relationship.

That said, Jason Garrett is a highly intelligent individual. Unlike any outsider, he has experienced Jerry Jones' overreaching tendencies first-hand for many years. That provided him with the knowledge necessary to counter Jones' influence on his roster more than his recent head coaching peers could. That's the most that anyone can envision while Jones is in charge.

Does not matter if its good or not thats my point. Who knows if its good or not or even if it makes one bit of difference. The his team and accept it or not was not pointed at you at all, its just we have to accept it.

Good for them? I dont think the players care one way or another, now JG im sure it did not make him happy, but he works for JJ, to expect anything else would be foolish, he knew what he was in for when he accepted the job.

Ah, gotcha now... makes sense. And you may be right in your final remarks there. I was just thinking that if some of the other reports were true (players and coaches "off the record" declaring their unhappiness with the next to last drive), then Jerry's comments could actually encourage more of the same down the road.

Im sure alot of the coaches and players were not happy with that last drive, but JG is very green as it comes to being a HC, but after the Lions game, I can see where he just could not trust Romo. But in hindsight he was wrong hopefully he learns from this.

What really drives me crazy is watching SF play the way they are playing. I so wanted Harbough. But I just have to deal with what we have
