Too bad trying to get a QB better than Dak isn’t an option in Jerry World.
My problem isn't that they shouldn't be... its just trusting them to be finding a QB better or even being in the remotely right ballpark of looking for QB. They've 100% gotten lucky with Romo and Dak. Honestly, we are VERY lucky to be a decent team. I feel like if it wasn't for lucking into Romo and Dak, NO WAY IN HELL the Cowboys would have anything going on. Just need to look at after Aikman was done. It was futility.

Is this for real or sid someone slip acid or DMT in my drink and I'm in an alternate reality? This is the best I've felt about the Cowboys in years. Jerry's stubbornness is starting to show cracks. Unbelievable.

Attention league GMs. We will be looking to draft a QB in April. That is all.
Way to go Booger.....just had to let every other team know that, didn't you....what a fool...watch someone now move up a couple spots and Dallas Goedert us out of the QB we wanted....he just can't keep his mouth shut.

Being a Cowboys fan you can complain alot, but complaining about their draft picks is crazy. They are as good as anyone in the draft room or scouting department. But seeing a Cowboys fan complaining about the draft doesnt surprise me. Cowboys fans complain about Everything.
When's the last great QB they drafted? Troy Aikman.

Jerry is surely an expert at drafting QB's... See Quincy Carter...
C'mon man don't be a downer, I need this, Lol. you're right Jerry's track record he's not great at drafting QBs. But what gives me hope is the last 3-5 years we have been one of the better drafting teams. I have little to no faith in Jerry and Stephen. I do have faith in McClay. McClay got us Bland and Clarke in just this past draft. We can go back and look at our drafts. Outside of Jerry's 2nd round gambles we've done pretty well. So no faith in Jerry but faith in McClay and I feel McClay will find us a QB on Dak's level or better either this year or next year.

Knowledgeable people in the NFL have said for years that it's a good idea to draft a QB in any given draft. Some of the most successful teams do so as a matter of policy to make sure they stay on top of the QB market. If a certain QB draftee doesn't make it, they can often be traded. Green Bay was one of those teams. With that in mind, I'm confident that Mike McCarthy would more than likely approve of that idea. I've been hoping that would happen for some time now.

Cowboys QB’s drafted in the last 30 years:

2001…Quincy Carter (2nd round)
2009…Stephen McGee (4th)
2016…Dak Prescott (4th)
2020…Ben DiNucci (7th)

No QB taken in the 1st round since 1989.

Only 1 QB drafted in the first 3 rounds in over 30 years.

I don’t think we need to draft a QB every year, maybe not even every other year.
But if we had drafted a QB just once every 3 years we would’ve taken 10 in 30 years. Instead, we only drafted 4, and 3 were on day three.

Jerry is an abject failure.
I rest my case.

Read one report on Tanner McKee that he would excel in a west coast offense.

Curious if he's a legit day 2 QB.

I won't argue at all. I WANT McClay to look for the next QB. It needs to happen. I don't hate Dak like a lot of emotional folks do right now but I also don't think Dak is going to get us over the hump either. Very torn BUT I know I'm not ready to go with "anybody but Dak". That's just stupid to me. I've seen that movie and it was Quincy Carter. We just have to hope the powers at be know that. (worried)

Green Bay does this a lot. When they had Farve they drafted Aaron Brooks, mark Brunell, Matt Flynn and of course Rodgers. Besides Rodgers they traded Beooks, Brunell, Flynn for high draft picks and stayed competitive. I might be missing a couple QBs but those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I feel it's a good model to follow.

The best thing to do is draft one in an early round, sign an undrafted one as well, then hold a QB competition in training camp. If Dak is still the starter for 2023, so be it, but draft again the next season.

Oh, and eat his cap hit and don't resign him. Let him play out the current contract. It will hurt, but it beats being absolutely stuck with him by extending him further.

100% agree. I feel much better if McClay takes the lead as opposed to Jerry. It does us no good to get another Quincy Carter or Clint Stoerner in here. Let's just keep Jerry out of the draft room and let McClay do his work. I completely agree with your overall concern. Jerry sucks at drafting QBs. Like you said, hopefully he realizes it, but like you I have my concerns. Jerry drafted Quincy Carter and Stephen McGee and then Dak. Safe to say Dak is slam dunk compared to the others. We'll see what happens.

I see what you are saying. It is basically competition. No problem with that. The key with your statement is "draft again the next season". I personally think smart and long successful teams should always be churning that QB spot. Find the guy however you can. I don't like leaving them unchallenged either.
