Jerry was a day late and a dollar short, as usual.
Leverage is everything in negotiations and Dak and his agent knew that they had Jerry at their mercy when Dallas had no other option at QB, zero leverage, nada.
Little too late to be making claims now Jerry, lets reach for a QB now and burn a high draft pick on Daks future replacement, but let's do it after you extend Dak like we all know you are going to do but let's tease the fan base now that you know you have failed with your assessment on Dak, and lets find Daks replacement somehow with a pipe dream late pick.
Day late and a dollar short as usual, this FO makes me SMH and wonder how billionaires can be so blatantly ignorant.

Come on with it you babbling idiot. Please bring in a decent FA, too! We need competition at the QB position.

Please find me an article, tweet, soundbite that indicates Dak's ego can't handle another QB coming in...
Look at some of the things you know.
He doesn't handle pressure well
They didn't want to let Tony compete for the job
Closest they have ever come to bringing in experienced, proven player is Dalton
Dak takes an abnormally large portion of the snaps. Whether we are up or down large, he doesn't want to come out of the game. He doesn't want anyone to get enough snaps to compare them. (Rush showed why)
Confident players know they will crush competition so they aren't worried about it.

The fact that you’re using the Romo situation shows you have NO CLUE what you’re talking about…you actually think ROOKIE Dak had that much power? That was all decided by Jerry, Stephen, and/or Jason. This is the type of stuff that makes our fan base look stoopid - this asinine attempt by many of us to act like we really have a clue what’s going on behind the scene with this franchise. But, keep on believing what the little you on your shoulder is feeding you.

Cowboys QB’s drafted in the last 30 years:

2001…Quincy Carter (2nd round)
2009…Stephen McGee (4th)
2016…Dak Prescott (4th)
2020…Ben DiNucci (7th)

No QB taken in the 1st round since 1989.

Only 1 QB drafted in the first 3 rounds in over 30 years.

I don’t think we need to draft a QB every year, maybe not even every other year.
But if we had drafted a QB just once every 3 years we would’ve taken 10 in 30 years. Instead, we only drafted 4, and 3 were on day three.

Jerry is an abject failure.
I rest my case.
Are we the only team that hasn't drafted a 1st round QB in that long?!

He was ordained the starter so yes he had power. If he would have said he wanted the competition, what choice would they have? I do agree it was decided by others though. Never said that fact by itself was definitive.

Take the pattern you have seen his career and it's all pretty clear. Have you not noticed other organizations put pressure on guys? Never happened here. Indicates they felt it was more likely to undermine his confidence rather than him being a competitor who would flourish against strong competition.

You could be right, Jerry Jones might be hoping that he can luck out into another Romo or Dak QB project, since they were late to later round picks. Because they're probably not going to be trying to move up to get a QB, unless it's one of closer to the Mahomes tier. Probably going to be 3rd or later round. But at least their starting the process of drafting QBs, So we'll see what happens.
There's a perfect prospect in the draft for a late round pick at QB, and both have as much, if not more, upside compared to Dak.

Tanner McKee, Stanford
https://www.si.com/college/stanford...back-tanner-mckee-declares-for-2023-nfl-draft

Blimey, a breathless story about McKee. A sample

McKee will likely be around the 4th to 5th ranked quarterback in the draft class depending on which site you look at for ranking the quarterback class. He is a quarterback that is able to complete passes on all levels of the field, has enough arm strength to make throws down the field, outside the numbers, and even has the mobility to extend plays with his legs. His athleticism is underrated. He will likely be drafted between rounds 2-4. Similar range as previous Stanford quarterback Davis Mills.

The Prescott era is over!

I feel like ripping off my clothes and going streaking.
Speaking of shortcomings, tha Dak will be remembered here as well as for his erratic little passes at shoelace level or 2 paces behind the receiver. Loved those sideline passes for 7 yards! Huzzah! O huzzah.
Ah, lads, yes, a good dream, but only a dream. Dak has infected the host and it will take shame and restructuring and a rethinking by tha old chap Jerald to ease Deek out. To me, old man Jones says Dak will be here another 3 years.
1/3 of a century of futility.

Tyson Bagent. You heard it here first...
Don't let his stats fool you. He played highschool 20 minutes from where I live and Shepherd is 30 min. I've seen him play plenty. Has not really played strong competition and has struggled at times in big games. His stats are 5 years of stats. His little brother plays at the same highschool and has an offer from Shepherd also. I know their dad. He's an awesome dude

And, once Romo became the guy, what pressure was put on him? Again, STOP ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON in the Cowboys coaching staff or FO.

Well, he had to outperform Bledsoe to get the job to begin with ....

This is a forum to discuss things. If the facts were all laid out, wouldn't be much to discuss would it? SO YOU STOP ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT WAS GOING ON when all we can do on most things is read between the lines.

So, reading between the lines, you want folks to believe a ROOKIE Dak had mind control/power over Jerry, Stephen, Garrett, the entire coaching staff and FO...ok. You win bro...I need to remember that the internet has become a haven for folks that like to create their own realities.

I answered your questions and never once insulted you so move on. You are the only one upset. Might be cause you got nothing to prove Dak can handle competition. So yeah, I'll stick with my reality.

Or, it might be because all of your supposed “facts” are pure conjecture or fantasy at this point. You haven’t proven anything - and if I seem upset is because sadly I find it funny when folks try to post something as fact when they don’t have the actual receipts. All you had to do was post a story, tweet, ANYTHING that backed you up. But, you couldn’t. So, check this out:

Straight from Dak’s mouth all those years ago…
