Mike McCarthy has been about as underrated as Sean Payton is overrated. Both coaches won a single QB with an all-time great QB, and are on par with each other. I never understood the over-the-top respect for Payton, compared to the ridiculous criticism of McCarthy. Both are proven SB winning coaches. McCarthy was NEVER as bad as it was played up in the media, and Payton was never as good as his reputation. The same goes for Sean McVay. He's won a single SB, yet he's treated like he's some type of genius. McCarthy is just as good as any other one-time SB winning coach in the NFL right now, including Sean McVay, Sean Payton, Mike Tomlin, Pete Carroll, John Harbaugh and Doug Pederson.

He’s setting Coach up for the fall if it turns .

It’s amazing how our ownership just can’t Shut up .
So, praising the head coach of your 2-0 team is bad.

Pretty sure you would complain about anything Jerry said … and if he didn’t say anything, you’d complain about that

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones praised head coach Mike McCarthy several times after the game last night. “I can’t say enough about how Mike has prepared this team the last two weeks, how he came out of training camp. I give him an extraordinary amount of credit here. He’s doing a great job leading that coaching staff, but he’s the busiest man in North Texas because he’s calling the plays, doing the offense plus doing the coaching. … Y’all give him his due here. He’s got a lot to do with how these two games have come out.”

Jones also joked multiple times about Tony Pollard getting carries late in the fourth quarter. Jerry laughing: “Well, we’ve got to have something to criticize.”

As long as Jerry Dumbo GM Jones is in charge of the Arlington Jonesboys, the Big Blue M&M will end up like that back to back Hall of Fame Super Bowl winning Cowboys Head Coach of the 90's...Fired.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief when they didn't trade picks for Payton. He's a product of Drew Brees. Otherwise, he's just another head coach.
I think Sean Payton is a fine coach. But he is not so much better than mcCarthy that he is worth giving picks up.

Another great example it’s all about the talent.

Yes, good coaching can optimize talent and most of all gather talent but it starts with the talent.

It’s why most coaches don’t have the same level of success at all venues.
I agree. You don't win the Kentucky Derby on a donkey.

Yeah, like I said after game 1. I was concerned about losing Moore. I knew McCarthy might have it in him, but I wasn't sure. So far, based on game 1 and 2, give me McCarthy. That way, a HC with experience has important games like last year's vs. San Fransisco in his own hands.

I always thought we should run more WCO. My only complaint yesterday was seeing Pollard in there when we were up three scores, and not giving Deuce some clean up reps to shake off his apparent jitters.

I still think Deuce is going to be good. I'm not complaining though. I'm happy with the outcome .

There's a slight gorilla in the room ignorance on display here. The majority of team success has come from the acquisition of a generational player and the coach of the defense which that player plays for of which McCarthy has little to no involvement.

So yeah, put Parsons in Denver with Payton as HC and Quinn as DC...

And you'll have the same if not better results.

That's great that Jerry said this. Now I want him to explain why MM is the 2nd lowest paid HC in the NFL if this is how he really feels..

It’s not all about talent! Your second sentence contradicts your first sentence.

Coaching Matters a lot. McCarthy is taking into account the whole team when he calls plays on O. Kellon Moore never did that!

Nice to see an actual coach here!!! After a decade that felt like a century they could've replaced Garrett with Rowdy and I would've been OK with it.
So true!
Garrett never out schemed anyone. McCarthy does it consistently. A big reason why CD is getting so many catches is big Mike scheming him open.

He's doing a great job, Lamb is wide open on a few occasions. He's forcing the D to choose and it exposes a weakness. And the Jets are no slouches on D. Took the opening drive right down the field. You can see Dak is comfortable and improving also . Plus using actual plays to get guys like Turpin and Deuce involved when it would've been the usual jet sweep or trick play before. It's nice to see.

That's pretty funny. At least he's still perceptive enough to know the reality of his team, and its fans. I'm definitely willing to give McCarthy his credit. I just wanted to see him run a top offense, and he's doing just that, which tells us the problem is likely not the typical scapegoat fans like to parrot incessantly.

On that same token ,for a guy who's 80-years old, Jerry is also doing a good job. If I owned a team, I'd likely want to be the GM as well. But if I wasn't, Jerry would be at the top of my list at this point in his GM career. There aren't many who've learned as much as he has along the way. There's only 1 other with as many Super Bowls, in the whole world. Even if that was a long time ago, Jerry finally knows enough to put it all together. I gotta give McClay his due as well. I'm not going to act like its all Jerry. I'm just willing to give him credit for delegating to people who do know what they're doing. That's the mark of a good GM.

I was supporting McCarthy when Jerry was making it sound like McCarthy was the problem and may not be in the job long.

Too soon. We have been here at 2-0 many many times over the years.
Stop. I will never understand this. It's not like whether you giving credit or not matters. Your dissatisfaction makes no difference to anyone but yourself, and your state of mind. If you want to be negative, you get to wallow in it.

Can the rest of us be happy for the team doing as well as any team could through two games?

If we can go 5-0 after San Fran, this team looks like it could be unbeatable in January. Unless it's too soon to look at the roster on paper, how they're playing on the field, and make an assessment of the team and its player and coaching personnel. The culture change is in effect, and it's never too soon to understand when things are turning around — unless you're just too obtuse, or generally unhappy, to see it.

We've got the team to win right now. That's a good thing. We haven't seen a team this talented overall.. that's an opinion, of course, but one that I think many would agree with. Letting go of the resentment from the past allows you to better enjoy the present going into the future. And every other team can say this as well. They've all seen it before.
