As long as we can stay in the top 10 range, I'm good with either option, but here's the advantage of getting DJ. Let's say we play him and he only wins one game down the stretch but looks decent. We could theoretically get a decent draft pick. Especially, this would be a ploy to try to get a player on vet minimum to then turn around and try to score a comp pick for him. So, we'd be getting a free pick for him.
We need a qb badly.

Top 10 does not get you one. Top 5 at least. This year maybe top 3.

How? If he clears waivers, he's a FA. He's a former starter. If he comes in and beats the Giants, we might have a chance at a comp pick for him if we bring him on for the rest of the year. Heck, we could sign him for 2 years on vet min, and we have an upgrade at backup QB going into next year and get a comp pick either way.
The vet min isn’t enough for a comp pick especially if he doesn’t start (as playing time does matter). The lowest comp pick is projected to be for a 1 year 3m contract for a starting LB. Jones signing on to be a backup for that price won’t get the Cowboys a comp pick.

Well, I don't know if we even go QB anyway this year. What id love is to sit at the 4th pick, trade back to about pick 10 (getting an extra first in 2026 to get a QB) and go either Jeanty, NT, guard, or McMillan (WR Arizona).

Well, what's the lowest we could sign Jones for a comp pick? Plus, he'd probably start most of the remainder of the year. So, it's not like he'd be a backup necessarily. He'd play out the season and move on.

Desperation, lol we don’t have enough issues. Let’s create more.
creates 0 issues.
he is clearly an up-grade over rush.
so much for stephen's "we're always looking to get better".
no....no they are not.

and when have they ever cared about creating issues?

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I really could care less who plays QB at this point. Although I'm afraid he would actually beat the Giants and I prefer to lose the rest of the season for a better draft position.

I mean, we might beat the Giants anyway. So, why not do it the funniest way possible?

How about stop with the ignorant speculation. When D. Jones clears waivers he can sign with any team for the vet minimum allowed in the CBA for the balance of the 2024 season, but (!) the team that signs him would be responsible for the $23 million injury guarantee. Highly unlikely he plays for a team this season. And while he might be a CFA for the NY Giants, he cannot be for the team that signs him for seven games.

No way an unimaginative owner like Jerry Jones will consider anything at this point in the season.
