He is the type of Vet, that if signed, it's after week one so salary isn't guaranteed.
Spot on, and to an extent it suits both parties. The Vet doesnt do pre-season and the club doesnt have to guarantee the contract.

I think the O-Line depth argument is somewhat worrymongering. We've got enough to start (and even some young roster fill-ins)....but.....and big but, we've got a decent of CAP space to fill in any emergency.

An argument could be made that our LB room is just as sparse (and you never know what injuries you can pick up). Cap flexibility is key to making those in season pick ups.

It might not be a bad idea to play Bass and or Richards in the 1st game and bring Tyler Smith back in week 2. We will just have to see how it goes.
It's always a tough call with hammy's or a calf and the such. I suspect it will be a Sunday night call. On the one hand it would be good to see what our backups can do and you don't want to risk making it a long term injury or something that nags him for a while by playing him too early, but on the other hand you need your best players on the field when there are only 17 games and this being one of 6 division games. Seems like we won't find out until Sunday evening

Crap shoot you say? What was his run blocking grade in college?
It's a crap shoot with any UDFA to even make the team, let alone be the first man off the bench. Just stop it already. If we liked him that much we would have drafted him.

This is already a need to win game for Mike McCarthy. Smith should be playing.

Hey, he's a good 'rook' growing fast and will get much stronger even as his focus explodes stronger.

No it isn't. It's one game. Every game in a short season is of course important, but let's not overreact to a good or bad week 1. We haven't won week 1 in a while.

Here is a serious question, because I don’t know. What team has “good” depth at the OLine position. Philly’s & KC’s OLine is supposed two of the best, I looked at their depth and with my very limited knowledge, they look very weak also.

Again a someone help me out.
They haven’t had the issues on the line in recent years to the level we had have they?

I very year we have an issue of some sorts on the line

I get you can’t have high draft capital at every position but when you know that’s it’s a concern you could be more proactive

I hope Bass and Richards are as good against starters as they were against scrubs because we’re gonna need them

Totally agree. The topic is what he was the day we signed him as an UDFA and before we even saw him in camp, not what he turned out to be. I think either he or Richards will do OK (I don't think it's a slam dunk Bass will be the one to start if need be). The Giants are pretty stout in the middle but they will have help if they are in there. I lean Bass because he looks stronger and Lawrence and Robinson are big boys and Lawrence is a game wrecking beast. This won't be a finesse game in the middle of the trenches.

Naw, see you after your yacht trip then. You are way off on commitment in team. Ask Troy Aikman and Michael Irvin. This isn't playground times now...that creates a backdrop of sick, lame, and lazy fall outs in the morning.

I want roots planted and him to be the next All Pro Dallas center!

Tape a salt tablet on the boo boo and send him out there...the other points are loser builders.

Prove the talent out as dependable or retire with a new coach.

Center? I assume you are thinking we move on from Biadasz after the season and move Bass to center next year based on the fact that he is expected to start taking some snaps there and potentially be our game day backup center. But, I don't get that because assuming Tyron is done after this year if you play Bass at center you still need an LG (or LT if for some reason they don't move Tyler back). So why not keep Bass at the position he is better at? And this assumes he can not only play at the NFL level but also do so at center (and he hasn't even played there yet) and we don't know if this is the case today

He is what you make him. As to Biadasz, that is a definite cap action. Another center yet, can be drafted and Bass moved to flex inside. But let's see indicators move on into an actual Pro Bowler. Don't waste top level potential as well as a cap developer in cash flow.
